Body Balance Healing Arts | Body Balance

Dan Goldman & Pat Hancock. The owner of this organization is currently under review for credit card fraud involving a case in which a signed receipt and confirmation for balance to be charged is attempting to be fraudulently negated.

As a contractor or any individual for hire, when you complete your services, you expect to be paid. This is not a matter of a contract dispute or a balance which should be forwarded to a collection agency, but an outright attempt at fraud in denying a signed document and its authorization with a credit card processor.

As a parent if I was considering signing up my child for Karate or other related services I would want to be sure I can trust those responsible for my children. Someone knowingly trying to commit fraud is not the type of person I would leave someone with, especially when it comes to the building blocks in life that such courses can provide.

If you are a parent in the Germantown, Frederick, Urbana, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Montgomery County and Maryland / Washington DC area and are considering Tai Chi, Karate, Meditation, or other services, let this be a warning to look elsewhere.

Body Balance Healing Arts - not a fraud post

It is amazing how easily dismissed comments like this come from ownership. Lies are easily exposed and it is not a fake post by any means.

Complaint is a Fraud

Manuel from NY is a Fraud.  I and my family have attended Body Balance for a numbers of years and find Pat and Dan (Dan has moved on) to be great teachers of the Arts.  The business is family centered and is a great center for the introduction of Kung Fu etc to children and adults alike.  "Manuel' is not a member but a purported internet Web designer who was hired to make improvements to the Body Balance web site.  Manuel did little work on the site and the work completed was subpar and took the site down for an extended period of time.  Pat had to hire and spend more $$ to have the site restored.  Just like contracting with a roofer to fix a leaky roof - and when it rains there are more leaks then before - when Manuel stopped stopped answering phone / emails but continued to debit the credit card, Pat stopped payment and filed a BB complaint.  Manuel has resorted to Web Harrasment.  If you want a quiet and relaxing location in the country to learn the various arts that Pat and staff teach - come to Body Balance.  This is not your "Strip Mall" Karate shop.  You wont regret it!

Student's rebuttal to claim of fraud

#4Consumer Comment

Tue, January 05, 2010

This is a response to the claim that the owner of Body Balance Healing Arts did fraud.

After googling "body balance healing arts" so I could link to the school's website, and a "ripoff report" surfaced, I was surprised and curious to read it. I am one of many long-time students there. I started in 1991 at age five, and I've known Pat Hancock (owner and head instructor) since. Without specific knowledge of the claimed fraud, I've always found Pat Hancock to be fair in trading money for services. He has been generously flexible in taking my tuition payments, and has also paid me to do landscaping work at his home.

Based on the experience of having been a kid student, then later observing kids kung fu classes as an adult, I agree such courses can provide some building blocks in life. In my opinion, the instructors at Body Balance emphasize patience, gentleness, and dedication, and are more motivated to spread their knowledge than to make a buck. Most of them are volunteers as far as I'm aware.

As a recommendation to anyone thinking about classes: shop around, but also come visit the school and meet the staff before making a decision.

In correction of the original report, the school is located in Clarksburg, Maryland. They teach Chinese styles of self defense including Kung fu, but do not teach Karate.
