I tried to help a student, or so I thought by buying some magazines, that were going to donated. But I found out after I wrote the 4 checks, that the money had not been put in my account as of that day. And my fiance was not happy about the donation to the Children's Hospital. So I cancelled my order within the stated 3 days like it says on the back of the invoice/receipt. I sent them all the paperwork they wanted, sent it in overnight mail to CA from NC. But the checks were automatically debited from my account anyway. I never got my refund, not did the hospital get the magazines.

Ever since 5/24/02 I have been trying to get my money back. I have sent 2 packages of the information they requested in order to do a refund. They wanted copies of the invoices and my bank statement showing that the money was debited. I sent copies hoping that it would be cool. Yet no money came.

So then I contacted the Better Business Bureau. After the Better Business Bureau's 2 trys to get them to return my money they sent me a response saying that I had already been refunded, per the company. I even had to send the Better Business Bureau copies of the information because the copy said they never got the prior 2 packages. Yet I have the signature/delivery confirmations from the post office to show that it was delivered and who signed for it. But I have not gotten the money yet. That letter was dated 8/2/02. It is now 8/16/02 and still no money.

The Better Business Bureau said that they cannot help me anymore because my file has been closed and they cannot open it back up. I asked if I could file a complaint that I never got the money and they said no to that too. Now what can I do. I'm out of money by $390. Any suggestions???? I'm definitely not going to try to be nice to anyone. Its all these dumb people's fault.

I am also having trouble getting a refund from Book Net.I filed a complaint with Bill Lockyer California Attorney General's office. They sent my complaint to Book Net,Book Net responded, that my order was entered incorrectly.Anyway Book Net responded to Attorney General and myself that they would give me a free magazine subcription.Who knows,I will more than likely never get anything, but if everyone with a complaint will contact the Ca. Attorney General's office www.caag.state.ca.us/ click on contact us, then submit general consumer complaint, than maybe we can put these rip-offs out of business!!!!It's worth a try
