After booking a room through Bookit.com for my Graduation Trip in early May 2008, my friend offered his home to me. So, 3 weeks before my departure date I cancelled via the website. The cancellation policy was a $25 cancellation fee, which was fine. The website showed my cancellation on the profile, so I assumed all was in order.

I returned to find that my credit card had been charged for the total of the trip! $265! I immediately called and disputed the charge with my credit card. However, the card re-charged the amount after Bookit stated that I "checked-in" and "stayed" at the Hotel!

After 2 hours on the phone with Bookit.com, I was tranferred to their "sister" company WTC. Worldwide Travel, I believe. I spoke with a man by the name of Sam, who admitted that the company was wrong and promised to get back to me. He did return the call, twice, stating that he was still working on it. Then, after two weeks I didn't hear from him. I called Bookit again, and they insisted that it was the Hotel's fault. However, the hotel didn't have any of my information in their system.

I called WTC again, insisting that I speak with Sam. However, Sam had disappeared. No one knew who he was. Going back to Bookit, landed me again with WTC speaking with Saloni this time. She, like Sam, admitted the fault and said that she would call me back. She never did.

So far I have spent over 12 hours on the phone. In my day job, I would make well over $265 in that amount of time. So, technically, it's not worth the effort. However, WHAT MAKES THIS OKAY?

I would be happy to take civil suit action over this circumstance. It is not fair or right for corporate business to make and create these "tiny scams" all of the time. Our generation has turned from "the customer is always right" to "the company is always right." And the companies know, there is not much we can do about it.

I am not quitting. I am furious. Bookit and WTC will be sorry that their customer service is so lacking and they didn't refund the original amount. $265 is nothing compared to what they will soon reap. Please let me know if you have had similar problems with this country. Would be great to work with you on this project.
