After a short power outage in my area, the Bosch electric oven would not work. The digital clock on the unit was illuminated but off-time. I checked the owner's manual for "Trouble Shooting" and it said to check power to the oven. I did and it was powered.  That's all it said under "oven is not heating'. So then I called Bosch customer service. They just asked for model numbers and said it was out of warranty. It was about 18 months old. (1 year warranty).

So I called an authorized service company. The tech showed up, (no marked truck, no uniform or name tags) placed his sweaty ball cap on my kitchen counter-top, re-set the clock to the correct time and turned on the oven. Took him all of 10 seconds to "repair" the oven. He said he does this all the time because it is a design fault in the unit. Then give me a bill for $89.95

So, my complaint is that although the oven was out of warranty, I could have gotten the oven working myself by re-setting the clock myself HAD IT BEEN NOTED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL.  Also, the Bosch customer "service" person I called should have just told me to set the clock since the company knows this is an issue with this product.

Of course I called them back to try and get my money returned..."sorry, out of warranty." They just don't get it.  Their omission caused me the expense.  I then contacted the corporate offices where they offered me HALF my $$ back.  NO THANKS. It's not the money now, it's the lack of understanding. No more Bosch products for me, my friends or family.
