I was an Army officer on active duty and left active duty in May 2004. I was a candidate with Bradley-Morris International (BMI) from mid-March through May 2005 after Jeff Rawlins of BMI contacted me via e-mail. Since BMI did not correct my problem with the company's business practices, I followed through on my threat to inform every military transition office and Junior Military Officer I am able to contact. The purpose of doing this is to warn potential candidates about BMI's flawed business practices.

The following is a summary of the problems BMI has caused for me.

For over a month, I expressed interest in attending the May 22-23 BMI hiring conference in Dallas, TX. I confirmed my attendance on the e-mail conference invitation Ms. Hamlin sent me in addition to confirming it several times over the telephone with Mr. Rawlins. He never mentioned the possibility of BMI not having any interviews for me.

In fact, I spoke to Mr. Rawlins frequently until Friday, May 20, when I was informed by the conference coordinator, Mike, that BMI did not have any interviews available for me at the conference. By that time, I had paid $300 for airfare to Dallas from San Antonio and a hotel room in Dallas specifically for the BMI hiring conference, all of which was nonrefundable. For those that do not know, San Antonio is approximately 275 miles away from Dallas.

I acknowledge that I was in Texas for job interviews May 15-16 in Dallas and that I had planned to stay with relatives in San Antonio, TX, from May 17-20. Those travel expenses did not include the $300 I spent specifically for the BMI conference in Dallas. Mr. Rawlins seemed to be under the impression that since I was already in Texas, the fact that BMI had no interviews for me and I had paid travel expenses specifically for the BMI conference was irrelevant.

Bradley-Morris always strives for complete candidate and client satisfaction. Candidates who have flexibility in terms of their geographic living preference are very likely to have a variety of great interview opportunities at our Hiring Conferences. Candidates who have very specific requirements as to their geographic living area can have more limited or no opportunities depending on which of our client locations have job openings, and, depending on whether those geographic-specific openings are matches with a particular candidate's skill set. In either case, however, we try to help candidates understand how travel plans can be impacted by weather contingencies, family emergencies, last minute client cancellations, etc. Ultimately, the candidate is free to choose whatever travel options best suit their needs, e.g., discounted fares, refundable tickets, etc.
