Bragada Mattresses Bragada Mattresses DON'T BE FOOLED - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR Poughkeepsie, New York

Bragada, although a well-run and pleasant company, misleads its customers that their memory foam mattresses are comparable to Tempur-pedic. They compare their models to beds to the "equivalent" Tempur-pedic models.  When expressing my concerns about their non-return/no-trial period policy, the representative told me that if I simply went to a mattress showroom that has Tempur-pedic, I could try out the corresponding bed to their model and it would "be the same."

After sleeping on the bed for two weeks, a valley formed under my body that did not form back to normal.  (And I'm of normal weight.) Soon my body was "falling" into this impression.  This valley remained.  I previously slept on a Tempur-pedic for 12 years and know how the Tempur material responds. This is FAR from acting ANYTHING like that material.  I also turned the mattress around and slept on the other side.  The same thing happened.

Then the jumping-through-hoops process began. Being that they will not issue a refund, they try to concoct the belief that the mattress must be defective. It's FOAM. It is what it is.  But they had me photograph weights on the bed showing the impression.  Then they wanted pictures of the frame, etc.  Then they wanted to send me a replacement (which i just got) and send back the old one.  So now I'm "testing" out the new mattress, when we all know what's going to happen.  I want a &*-damned refund, as I was misled.

Lastly, in touting their memory foam, they boast that their product, and not Tempur-pedic, is endorsed by the "Orthopaedic Research Institute."  Why on earth would this "institute" endorse a product which is so obviously inferior?  I emailed them asking this question, with no response.  I'm dubious of this institute-together.  I'd love an investigation on them alone and their association with Bragada.

So this is just a warning to the consumer looking for a Tempur-pedic bed but can't stomach the price: Save up and buy it.  You get what you pay for!  I can't wait to get one again after this whole thing plays out.

UPDATE TO MY COMPLAINT - BRAGADA A GOOD COMPANY

#2Author of original report

Tue, January 12, 2010

Since filing my report, the response from Bragada has been professional and courteous. Their service, of course, was never an issue. Despite my complaint, Bragada seems to be run very well and was always pleasant and concerned with making the customer satisfied. After hearing of my displeasure, the president/owner called me directly asking what the company could do. I never questioned the quality of Bragada mattresses.  They're well-made and designed for what they promise. My gripe was the assurance that the particular model I ordered would have PRECISELY the same feel as the equivalent Tempur-Pedic. Although the Bragada felt quite comfortable, I was used to a firmer memory foam response, since I had been accustomed to the Tempur material for so many years.

Although Bragada may not be the spitting image of the Tempur material, it's still a quality mattress.  The buyer must simply be aware that the Bragada line (based upon my experience) tends to run a little softer than the Tempur equivalents. Therefore I would suggest to anyone looking for that firmer Tempur support to go with their Classic collection as opposed to the Cashmere collection. If you want a soft plush feel where you sink in more, then the Cashmere collection would be best.  If you go try the "equivalent" Tempur-pedic, you may want to order the next step up in firmness from Bragada.  Ordering without an actual try-out is always a gamble. But the difference in price could be worth the leap of faith.

Again, Bragada offers a far less expensive alternative to Tempur-pedic. It may not be the exact same thing, but the comfort and benefits are there - and the people behind it are proud of their product.  That's always a good sign.
