I see I'm not the only person to get taken by these guys. I got scammed, too. Another naive out-of-towner.
It looked like such a nice store with friendly people. But once they get your money, they don't want anything to do with you. But those are the most successful scams, right? He told me the diamond earrings I bought for $1200 were 1 carat total weight. After I got it appraised, I found out it was only 3/4 carat.
After a lot of arguing over the phone here's what they offered me: I could come into the store and exchange it for another $1200 item. How nice! But here's the scam: this item actually had sticker of $1650 on it in the display case. How nice of them to allow me to pick out another item with a sticker of $1200, meaning its actual price is probably $800-$900!!! So it's a double scam!!! To sue them in small claims court means I have to fly to NYC. I can't afford the court costs, so I'll just nail them on this site. (and with the Attorney General).
Here's what I learned:
-The BBB does not protect the consumer. They will support the merchant in a dispute.
-Use a credit card for purchases-never cash!! You have 60 days to dispute a charge. You might have more luck with a credit card company on your side.
-Don't make large purchases out of town. If you want to sue the merchant, you have to file a claim in their hometown!
Stay away from this place!!!!!!!

This is a bogus accusation from a non-existent customer. If this was real, I'm certain we would have heard directly from this person at some point. This claim is completely unsubstantiated by any documentation. This was obviously submitted by a jealous competitor. We are proud of our impeccable reputation that has been earned through the past three generations. Shame on you!
