Brake way Should be called "Scam"way louisville Kentucky
My niece visited this ripoff joint last week for a free brake inspection. Her rear brakes were squeaking and needed replaced. The front brakes, calipers, pads, lines were replaced less than a year ago. After the inspection she was told that none of the brakes had been touched in a very long time ( the car is a 1991 Ford Tempo), All the brake lines were leaking and she needed "new rubber" all around. She was told that the system was contaminated and that the entire system needed to be replaced. The estimate was 1040 dollars. She called me I told her to run !!!
She was told that the parts were extremely hard to find and would be very expensive. 10 Minutes after she called i had all the parts needed to replace/ rebuild the entire brake system front and back for 88 dollars from rock auto.
I asked a friend that is an ASE certified mechanic to help me with the car. First we inspected the brake fluid and it was clear as one would expect it to be. No contamination (I took pictures of everything. Then we looked at the rear brakes. Line we not leaking there was no evidence of them ever leaking( again i have pictures. Yes the brake shoes and rotors needed to be replaced as they were bad. Thats it nothing else wrong with the rear brakes.
On to the front brakes. absolutely nothing wrong or leaking. Pads were still at least 3/4 , rotors we not scratched, caliper still looked brand new. Of course I hace pictures of all of it. I even laid the new shiny gold colored caliper on the ground near the caliper that was mounted and took a picture. You can barely tell the difference. we did nothing to the front brake system as it did not need it.
She was told that all brakes were looked at. you can tell from the pictures that they only removed 1 tire. What a totoal scam. They should be ashamed of themselves for trying to take advantage of a young girl.
