I went to get an oil change on my 2001 Nissan Altima, and the manager told me that I needed new brakes, rotors, and shoes, plus tires. I did not get the tires but the whole thing cost me $325.62!!! Now 3 months later, my brakes are sqweeking and I took it back and they said it was the Wheel Cylinder. It was going to cost me 265.00!! I first told them ok, but when I thought about it, they are taking advantage of me. I told them to stop the work, and they said no at first, and started coming down in price first to 200.00, and I still said no, then to 100.00. I know they took advantage of me the first time.

For a car of two years, there is no need to replace/resurface your rotors and replace the pads unless they are really scored. But, that is pretty unlikely if you drive under normal conditions. Always get a second opinion. You got ripped off. Learn from experience. B/T/W, why were they checking your brakes? Did you authorize them to do that? You will know when you have brake problems. Plus, most shops will bring you out to the repair bay and show you the problem.
