Branch Banking And Trust (BBandT) Overdraft Charges With An Insurance Check On Hold For 5 Business Days Conover North Carolina
I am temporarily disabled from a work related accident. I received a check from my insurance company that the bank has placed on hold for 5 business days. When my wife deposited the check, she was told at that time that the check would be held. Sure, deposits are not available sometimes for immediate withdrawal, but it depends on the time of the day they are deposited. We contacted the bank on more than one occasion asking them to waive the hold, to call the insurance company and verify that the check was good, that our account was going to go into the red because of prepaid payments and sure enough, the overdrafts the bank has took from us are currently right at $500.00.
This is their money. Overdraft Charges. They will do nothing as it is their "policy".
Just a phone call to the insurance company is all that it would have took to resolve this issue, but they refused to do this. Go to www.bbt.com and read the "About BB&T" column, are they true to their statements? Read the other ripoff reports regarding BB&T, they are reaping in the profits and we are suffering for it.

The bank could have held it as long as something like 12 days (I believe - could be wrong) if they wanted. Since you allege to read this site, you should be reading all the threads using real 'reputable' company names where scammers are sending fake checks to people in these 'reputable' company's names.

BB&T Insurance Check Hold

BB&T did hold my check for the entire 5 day period. One thing I wish to mention is that the check was drawn on AFLAC, a very reputable company. I have checked with other banks in the area and the holds they place on insurance checks is a maximum of 3 days, and no AFLAC checks are held for any length of time. They are credited as regular deposits. So, as an AFLAC customer, it is time to do some banking somewhere else other than BB&T.
I have read a lot of posts on this site and all though a lot of errors are created on our own, some of them are the fault of the bank, sometimes they will fix something if you stand your ground and don't give in, but bear in mind, while you are talking to the bank and looking at a bank statement either on paper or online, you are looking at something totally different from what they are. They can tell you anything, true or false, and you don't have the information you need in front of you to back your claim.
When you make a bank visited deposit, CHECK THE DATE AND TIME YOU MAKE THE DEPOSIT!!!!
Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.
