Breeders Association of America Complete Ripoff Brick, New Jersey
I bought a puppy about 18 months ago. Paid full price for a purebred Havanese puppy. As she got older, she stayed pretty tiny(5lbs) so not only did we question her breed but were being questioned by friends and vets as everyone kept saying she was a maltese. As we researched and spoke to Havanese breeders it was confirmed that Havaneses are typically 10-15 lbs and have a pretty study physique, unlike our 5lb. Girl. We decided to do a couple different DNA tests and it was confirmed she is Maltese with a little bit of other breeds. We went back to look at the contract and they pretty much have you, you either need to give the dog back or let the issue go. They also don't recognize any type of DNA tests, so no arguments there. It is sad because they rip people off everyday. If you are smart enough, you can talk them down in price. If you fall in love with a puppy they do whatever they can to sell it. I take responsibility for being a non educated consumer, but my warning to anyone else is to do your homework. Don't rely on the paperwork or documentation that they give you. Bottom line is that these dogs all come from some sort of puppy mill. I would save all of them if I could, they all deserve a good loving home, unfortunately you should not pay the price and be blindsided by any surprises. Some dogs get sick, some are not what the papers say and some are just fine.
They don't let you take pictures, or video but i did and I have on record that they state they are our red, healthy and not from a puppy mill. I have an attorney reviewing the contract and information as all I want is at least a portion of the cost back.
PS when I went in and talked to there manager, she acted shocked and stated, they have never had a problem before. I gave them my name and number, and surprise, surprise- no phone call back.

I bought a chocolate cocker spaniel from Breeders Association. She had many congenital issues and needed surgery and of course, their vet, Dr. Fenton gave the dog a Fit for purchase. Well, needless to say after getting an UNFIT FOR PURCHASE from my vet and after $3,000 in vet bills and surgery for her eye she WILL NEVER be healthy. She needs to be on steroids for the rest of her life. I had many nasty encounters with their employees and they even called the police on me when I brought the dog to the store to show them in person what my dog's eyes looked like because after I called them numerous times they would not return my calls. I found out that she came from a notorious puppy mill, Gary Scheulen and they swear she is not a puppy mill dog and I have the USDA reports that this breeder is scum. I am surprised my dog made it out of this place alive. I love my dog and this is how they get you. Now I am informed that an 85 year old woman walked into the store and they suckered her into buying a puppy and they screwed her. She paid $4,000 for the dog. They saw her coming and took advantage of this poor woman. They don't care that this woman will probably die soon and the dog will end up in the pound. I couldn't believe this story but I know for a fact this woman was taken advantage of. Needless to say regarding the last comment about her dog not being a true breed, well mine is either. She is a chocolate cocker spaniel and over the last couple of months her hair started turning silver and she is looking more like a Sharpei with many folds in her skin. My vet doesn't even know what she is but she is NOT a cocker spaniel. I really don't care because she is a wonderful dog but this is proof AGAIN, that these "designer" dogs are just mutts. Stay away from this place and if you have any problems, call the Board of Health, get an UNFIT FOR PURCHASE and call the group called FAUN who is protesting this place.
