Brent Brown Toyota Very Poor Service department and policies. Orem, Utah

Poor Service!  Really poor service department and policies.  I had recall work done on my 2002 Tacoma.  They replaced the front right ball joint, just over a year later the same ball joint broke when my wife was driving the truck.  Fortunately, it was on a residential road and she wasn't driving very fast.  Brent Brown say they can't do anything because the parts are only guaranteed for a year.  Ball joints should last longer than a year, I'm thinking.  Unless you get a "Toyota" ball joint installed I guess.  They say that they're willing to look at the truck to determine if it was installed wrong but they have to have the truck taken to the dealership to make an assessment.  I can't afford to pay a tow truck to haul my truck down to brent brown for an assessment and they don't make house calls I'm told.  I'm stuck with hundreds of dollars for repairs because brent brown installs faulty parts.  They have absolutely no understanding or consideration for customers problems or situations.

Stay away from Toyota vehicles and definitely, stay away from Brent Brown Toyota.

Good Story from BBT

That is a good story from brent brown toyota,  however, it's a fable.  It almost appears to make them look charitable doesn't it?  However, here's the real story.  Back in Jan of 2009 I called Toyota corporate and they said my truck did indeed fall under the recall and they would perform the work, which they did.  I believe, however, that both ball joints should have been replaced and they only replaced one of them, the one that failed a few weeks ago in 2010.

Here's the recall info;

RECALL:  2001 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma

NHTSA Campaign Number:      05V225000         www.nhtsa.dot.gov

Manufacturer:                        Toyota Motor North America, Inc.

Description:      Suspension: Front: Control Arm: Lower Ball Joint

Summary:   On certain sport utility vehicles, due to a manufacturing issue in the front suspension lower ball joint, there is a possibility that the surface of the ball of the joint may have been scratched.  The ball joint may eventually experience excessive wear and looseness, resulting in increased steering effort.

Consequence:   The lower ball joint may separate from the knuckle causing loss of steering control and a crash could occur.

Remedy:  Dealers will replace the front suspension lower ball joints.  The recall is expected to begin on July 15, 2005.  Owners should contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

Nice try, bbt!

Repaired 131k vehicle for FREE.

The vehicle was originally repaired on January 15, 2009 with over 131K miles. It was not under a recall and was repaired by a Toyota factory authorized "GOODWILL" repair.  The customer called into Toyota National Customer Assistance over 15 months later to ask for it to be covered under warranty.  Toyota declined based on the mileage and the age of the vehicle. The original warranty on this part was 3 year or 36,000 miles. Brent Brown Toyota nor any other Toyota dealer has the authorization to repair a car of this age and mileage under warranty. When Toyota National make a call on a request the dealer must honor the decision.

I don't trust Toyota

They were once good vehicles but, who can trust them now?  You are gambling your life and your families lives away.  It's like buying a hunting rifle that may or may not blow up and kill you.

Dealerships have become reluctant to perform any rapairs just to keep a customer.  I am not sure if it is because of the economy or not but, I have the same problem with my dealer, Ray Price in Pennsylvania.  After purchasing two new cars they refuse to repair problems (minor) that occured after a few months of owning the vehicle.

Shocking!
