Complaint Review: Brenton Wombles

Brenton Wombles hired me via eLance.com as a writer. He also hired several other people, including a project manager I was supposed to work with. 

The project was to write a book about his family. I was unclear on the assignment and repeated emails and voicemails went unanswered. I proceeded with what I had, and sent it via elance. I never heard another word from him. 

I sent invoice after invoice to him via elance. I called, texted, and emailed - no answer. This is a writers worst nightmare - a genuine seeming client who assigns you work and doesnt pay. They wouldn't dream of doing this to a plumber who fixed their toilet, why do they think they can get away with it on elance? 

I finally did a google search on "brenton wombles" and found several other scams he has run through various business names - but almost all are about not paying his employees. Writers - beware of Brenton on Elance and freeelancer.com.
