There is a new kind of scam on the rise and eBay supports it 100% through their policies, So, consumer be aware of it!

His name is Karl Suazo and his eBay ID name is BRICKFENCE. He conducts computer repair business from his house in Dana Point, California. He will ONLY do business through eBay, since eBay's policies support what he does.

This is how it works:

This guy will put an ad on eBay under "Service and Repair", as he knows that eBay does NOT provide any money back guarantee under that category. He will also put "NO RETURNS, NO REFUND..." in his ad.

So, when a customer comes across his ad, they have to purchase his services IN ADVANCE. In other words, YOU PAY FIRST! Then, he will ask you to send the item (motherboard, logic board, etc.) to his place in Dana Point, California. In other words, YOU PAY FOR SHIPPING ALSO. Once, he gets your item, he waits a week and then send it back WITHOUT REPAIRING.

Of course, when you get it back, it will NOT work. So, you write an email to him saying that it’s not fixed and doesn't work. He will either not response or simply gives you BS. You will ask for your money and he will mention that, according to his policies/contract, there is NO REFUND, however, he offers 3 months of warranty on his repairs.

Since, you are stuck and are out of 100s of dollars, you take a chance and ship the item back to him. Same thing happens again. Meaning, he will keep your item for a week and then send it back WITHOUT REPAIRING. Now you have paid shipping cost twice.

Obviously, you will be upset and will call eBay or open a "Return" case. Ebay will decide the case in his favor, based on his and eBay policies and you are out of hundreds of dollars, while he is sitting there and laughing at you and eBay!

MacBook repair via eBay

I sent in my laptop to be repaired by this individual, brickfence. The problem was that a couple of weeks ago I screwed in screws that were too long that drove into the battery and created a spark. I bought a new battery and the machine was working fine until a few days after this incident.

It would startup with the Apple logo and that’s it. If I hold command+R it went to a strange blue screen and wouldn’t start up. I have to say I was very skeptical since my version of MacBook is notorious for this issue and didn’t think he could fix it.

Anyhow I sent it in to him. Word of advice: make sure you pay for the nice FedEx laptop box to ensure your laptop is safe after he repairs it and your laptop doesn’t sustain additional damage due to insufficient packing. Anyhow I received the laptop back and to my amazement, it booted up just fine! I contacted to thank him but that I am still skeptical he will honor the 6 month warranty.

Just shy of 6 months the laptop stops working with the same symptoms mentioned above. I contact him again and he has me send it in and he gets it back to me very quickly. All I had to pay for is shipping. The laptop is working fine now. Since brickfence honored his warranty I’m leaving this review about his business. I can only speak about my experience and it has been a good one.

Well! Since I can’t remove the report and my only option is to provide an update. So, here is the update:

After talking to Karl and having an open communication with him, I now completely understand his return/refund policy and why the motherboard/logic board might not work properly.

He does provide a full refund including shipping and handling under special circumstances. As mentioned before, he provides a full 3 months warranty and a refund within the first 30 days from the date of purchase. You can read all the details of the terms and conditions on his eBay website.

He also explained that the logic board can get damaged during shipping and that could be the reason it might not work. He also mentioned that the other components that are attached to the logic board might be bad, which can lead to malfunction.

Sorry for all the misunderstandings and apologize for the trouble that may have caused.

I definitely want to do more business with him and look forward to it. I guess, we are just two people trying to do an honest business in this competitive IT industry.

Thanks!
