Complaint Review: Brink's Security

I purchased my Security System from
Brinks when I bought my house in 1995.

In 2003 I decided to get a new system from another company. My contract with Brinks had been up for years and they would not match the offer from my new provider. So, I changed service to a new security system. A few weeks after that I got a bill for 250 plus from Brinks. I called them and boy did I get an ear full. First they claimed I had a contract which I did had it been seven years ago but I had fulfilled it years prior. Next, they told me that if I did not pay the 250 plus that was left on this so called contract that they would ruin my credit. I told them that I had never heard of re-occurring contracts and that in Texas I later found were not legal. I also asked when I had been notified of this new contract and they said it was automatic unless I wrote them to cancel it. After numerous calls and some real nasty people at Brinks I called their bluff. A few years went by and I refinanced my house and guess what? Brinks had put a complaint on my Credit score. We, (the credit agency and I) got on the phone with the company who was listed as holding the complaint and they were just as bad as Brinks. The women from the credit company told them who she was and that what they were doing was not legal by holding an open account when they did not even know what it was for but again they thumbed their nose at us. The bottom line is not even the Texas Attorney Generals office would return my notice of complaint I filed on them. Never, get a system with Brinks they are nasty, their employees are mean and boy if you leave me they will do what they have to to try to keep you even if it is not legal. As a side not Brinks had a judgment against them years ago for this kind of thing and were told to stop but I guess they don't care about Judges either.
