I saw a report of the lady attempting to cancel her service and wanted to also share my frustration with Brinks. I signed up for service with Brinks and the contract was altered by the technician to commit us for a 1 year period instead of three.

When we canceled the contract, they sent us a bill stating that we were in collection with their company. They were also attempting to charge us for approximately 14 months more service.

When I called them, they told me that only my signature and initials were on the contract, and that the technician did not sign. I then faxed them the copy of the contract that they sent me, and circled the initials and the signature of the technician. It was clearly different than my signature.

It was not until I left several messages with a supervisor, and threatened legal action that they removed the additional monitoring fees. I am waiting for the final bill and a letter stating that the account never went to collections.
