I ordered high speed internet for the first time in 8 years after having settling for dial-up for so long. This was a birthday present for my son so he could participate in the on-line gaming of X-Box Live. I explained this to the customer representative, his name was Gilbert, and also advised him that we were on a fixed income due to my husband losing his job after 15 years of employment. I asked him several times if the $89 modem he had me purchase was needed. He informed me it was and I would be rebated in 8-12 weeks. After the modem had not been shipped after several days I phoned Charter and advised the modem I purchased was not necessary and it had not come through them. I have tried to contact BroadBandOffers.com but the phone number listed, when you call it, nevers gets answered and has no sort of answering service. I had reported this to my credit card company and reported my card compromised since the sale was still pending but the transaction was processed anyway. The day the cable guy came out, the modem arrived. Now, after a $100 dollar loss, I cannot get a hold of any company representative. My son feels guilty because the loss, he feels is because of him, but I have reassured him that his gift was worth it, because I see how happy he is. I hope this can be resolved but the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't look good. Please be careful for your family and for your finances.
