In July/ August of 2003 my person purchased a one-off Broadcastblaster deluxe instant messaging software with 250 threads for US$149 with technical support.

The other day, I requested technical support to solve a problem where the computer ID had changed without my knowledge and my user license allowed me to run this application from just one computer, this one. If I wanted to register the Email address on this computer then I had to un-register it from the original computer, this one and re-register it on this computer which is the same computer as the original. The message also added that If I had any additional questions to contact the software provider.

I duly contacted the software provider only to find out to my horror that the only solution to my problem that this provider would provide is, here I quote ad verbum,

Our current policy is that all users must convert to a subscription. There are no exceptions to this. As I mentioned, we will give you a 50% discount on either subscription, and I will give you more threads.

The problem is I did not want more threads or a yearly subscription, I just wanted a solution to my problem to which I am entitled as the provider offers technical support. However, to get that I have convert to a yearly subscription with a 50% discount which did not exist until just recently. This is a real rip-off. Just imagine all the poor users who purchased previously when they request technical support, they will find themselves in the same position as myself, No support unless you convert or Convert or Perish.

This complaint is sent principally to warn all the other poor users like myself who purchased their software before the current policy, so as to avoid them getting their fingers burnt and let future purchasers be wary, careful and ever watchful for any signs of unfair practices before purchasing Broadcastblaster software.

When I politely informed Broadcastblaster that I had made a complaint they sent me an email cancelling my account, so beware users and future buyers.
