Broadstar Communications LLC took over as the Cable/Internet provider for my Apartment Complex roughly 1 year ago. The "service" that is provided is laughable at best, and overwhelmingly frustrating at it's worst. There is no reason that any community should ever use the services of Broadstar other than to save money on the bill (Which is not passed on to their customers oddly enough).

Coming from someone who has a background in technology, the steady steam of excuses used to stave off customer complaints are nothing but poorly thought out lies. The "techs" do not have a clue what they are doing in the field, and there is one (read: 1) person who they constantly need to call in order to resolve anything.

Other excuses provided include:

  • "Line Provider" issues (no, they were not able to explain what a line provider is or what it does)
  • Modem Problems
  • Problems with my computer
  • Problems with my cables (which they will happily charge an extra $5/mo. to replace if required)
  • Network Interference
  • Weather
  • The apartment complex's maintence staff "messing" with equipment

In short, they are simply unable to provide adequate service for the size of the communities they accept contracts for. I'm being overcharged for terrible service, being told it's in some way my fault, and then being dismissed. I no longer qualify for any additional credits to my account, so if I want any service at all I have to pay full price for not even half the "average" speed (3 mb/s on a 12 mb/s package).

Also, I would try to call AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to your service randomly disconnecting, techs are never available.

It's that bad. I was just locked out of my final for one of my classes due to T3 server time outs.
