I am yet another one of the EX-Employees of Brookline Management. Also referred to as Brokeline managment by the staff. Expecially considering the fact that they charge an unsurmountable price for crap living accomidations they provide; and then can't even pay off their own bills. Recently Brookline management was inspected by the city of Kentwood due to clientel, and police complaints against them. The judge passed an order to have all of the electrical brought to code, foundations reset, sidewalks repaired, windows replaced, backed work orders, new cupboards, new carpet, new tile floors, Drywall, exterior/interior lighting repaired, hazardous black mold that made people sick, Plumbing, Insect infestation, parking lots, Drains, Constant pool issues. Breton East/Breton Court which are now known as The Bretons, Hunter's Ridge, and Walnut Hills have all had there pools shut down many times. Cracked pool foundation, green ozing slime, no bromine, low PH, unsatisfactory locker rooms. Anything you could think of that was wrong with any pool happened on all of these properties.
There are windows in the hallways of these properties that have not been repaired as the city has instructed. They are a complete hazard. Many of they windows are 1/4 inch thick, and if a strong wind blew they could fall out. Just imagine yourself or a small child hurt by a thick pane of glass falling on top of you. Instead of replacing the rotten wood of the window frames, they just put a new piece of wood over the outside to make it look like they fixed the problem. They habitually lied to the city on these matters. Railings, Doors, Nasty Laundry Rooms, all hallway as well as units are just bandaged by corporate order.

There still are several screens missing from units that the city has ordered to be replaced. Many people have been waiting a long time time for these screens. When they do get screens in they are not the appropriate size. They order one size that fits only one property for all of the properties. Each property is different in dimensions. When the city would come to inspect the corporate chain would have the General employees(Punch Crew) running around exchanging parts from unit to unit just to pass the inspection. That is how cheap Joel Brown is, and how bad he didn't want to cohere with the mayor's penalty for him. If he failed inspection he was to live in the nastiest unit at Breton Court, and he would serve time in jail. Breton Court/Breton East were the Nastiest properties when all of this started. So here you see an example of how they not only cheat the residents, but also LIE to the CITY of Kentwood.

That is just a small expample of how they cheated the city.

Brookline Management offers great specials to move you in. ONLY $200 to get you in. NO Application fee, no pet fee, no pet deposit, and some properties you can even have dogs now. Wow! Sound great hunh? But BEWARE. It is all a scam to get people's money, and make Joel Richer. They don't tell you the truth about the apartments. They are not secure in many forms, excessive leaks/Floods that destroy your possesions, AC's that don't work and leave you with a $200 bill a month, Many no heats. People are paying anywhere from $400-$1,000 a month for this crap. Brookline should give people what they pay for. Brookline does everything the cheap bandaid way Not the RIGHT WAY.

For as crappy as they treat the residents; They treat their employees just as bad. They make them work over extended hours or they will fire them, the paychecks have shortages on a regular basis, Orders for supplies aren't processed, People who deserve a raise never get one, they write you up for stupid things that don't even matter(Just so they can have another excuse to fire you), Make you work in physically threatening situations, as well as health hazerdous ones, Employees have been attacked by angry residents who don't know the whole truth while trying to perform their duties. Brookline won't protect the residents, or employees, Just their own butts.

I have so much to say negativly about Brookline that I could talk for days about these issues.

RENTERS BEWARE

1. When considering renting a property find out who owns it.

2. Run them through the better business Bureu.

3. Ask around the neighborhood, you might learn something valuable.

4. Never ask an employee about the True quality of the place(Remember their job may be on the line if they tell the truth).

5. Physically walk the property during the day and night to asses whether it is the kind of nieghborhood you want to live in.

6. Look closly at the complex for any negligence.

7. Do what ever you have to to make sure that it is a place you want to live, and NOT get Screwed.

There are many sides to a residental complex. The Owner, Corporate, management, maintenance, housekeeping, contractors, and the residents. Each has their own priorites. I just hope that Brookline can get theirs straight. Because they have screwed so many people it is ludicris. I encourage everyone to speak out against these type of injustices, or nothing will ever change.
BROOKLINE SCREWS EVERYONE. THE RESIDENTS, EMPLOYEES, THE CITY, AND MOST OF ALL THEMSELVES.
