Bruce was an alcoholic and had a gambling addition. He was selling jobs for less than market rate at a loss so one would get done but others would not. He is a con artist in a way but hard to know whether he meant for the companies to fail or this was just a mistake. He was also played by the client in Edgemont who got special treatment before anyone else when everything went under. Those people are just as dirty as he is.
Still in Canada...

To the best of our understanding Bruce Hopkins cannot travel to the US due to a criminal drug related conviction from many years ago. As in, if he so much as sets foot in America he will automatically go to jail.
He has however been known to frequent Mexico and Eastern Canada. Recent reports place him in Edmonton on a regular basis.

You gotta wonder what Bruce Hopkins is thinking, but one's just gotta know that Calgary is cold in the winters and perhaps Bruce saw a decline in business and saw something coming so I bet he just decided to retire early. With $3M in hand, who wouldn't want to skip town.
I have not read nothing new on the case, so I bet he just skipped the country and is now relaxing in on some sandy beach while Calgary is -10C with a wind chill of -15C. $3M will go a very long way in a 3rd world s'hole country.
I doubt he will get much jail time, less then a year that is for sure, if he even gets Spy Hill West Wing country club time. He could opt to do it on weekends. When is Bruce's next court date? Is he now on the run? Will Alberta even extradict Bruce from anywhere but the USA?

Bruce Hopkins - Next court date?

I like to keep tabs on the outcome of Bruce Hopkins case in Calgary, but there is nothing when I search his name. He is delaying the case as much as possible that is for sure! I bet he is trying to get it thrown out due to the wait, but he did plead guilty, then withdrew it but the prosecutor can still use that plea against him. Where is Bruce located now, is he still in Calgary? I doubt it. No one from his 12 step meeting he used to always attend has seen the man around. I know he hired a lot of people from the rooms so I wonder if any of those people have been ripped off by Bruce Hopkins. Its kind of funny because there are lots of people in the rooms of 12 step meetings that talk a good talk in the rooms, but when they are outside that 12 step meeting door, its different all together. Lots steal, even from 12 step meeting functions, like The Old Timers function. Another does the rent to own scam, claims to be a millionaire ex-teacher. LOL Smoking da herb huh gotcha!
To the point, in BC there is a data base to search to view upcoming court dates. Alberta has more privacy rights and there is no such data base. How do the victims and the public keep track of his court dates?

Career Criminal Bruce Hopkins Home Reconsidering His Guilty Pleas

Despite stealing millions of dollars from clients years, months, days and even HOURS before going under, all the while knowing that he would never be completing the work that he was being paid for or that he would be able to repay the funds, and subsequently pleading guilty to many of the charges levelled against him, Bruce Hopkins now figures that he made the wrong choice and is all of the sudden not guilty.
There must be something truly wrong with the Canadian legal system if Bruce Hopkins is somehow allowed weasel his way out of serving any time or being made to pay substantial restitution to his victims, many of whom have lost EVERYTHING due to what he did. Families are still trying to recover financially and rebuild what if anything they have left due to this monster. He must be made to pay and more must be done to change the system from ever allowing something even remotely like this to ever happen to anyone else in the future.
PS. Perhaps if his wife who previously commented defending him were around when he was trying to make moves on client’s wives, sweet talk them and sexually harass his employees and sub-contractors she might see things a little differently.

Suspect in Nanaimo Tim Hortons and Scotiabank robberies charged
The suspect in the robbery of a Nanaimo Tim Hortons and Scotiabank has been arrested and charged.
24-year-old Brandon Maxwell Hopkins was taken into custody in Abbotsford on Jan. 25 and appeared in Nanaimo Provincial Court Tuesday.
He was charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and one count of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.
Nanaimo RCMP says he had no fixed address, meaning he was most likely homeless, making it difficult for police to find and arrest him.
A warrant was first issued for his arrest on Dec. 11.
Mounties say his first suspected robbery occurred at around 12 a.m. on Nov. 29. Hopkins showed up at the drive-thru window at a Nanaimo Tim Hortons while on foot.
He allegedly brandished a knife and demanded cash from the till. He then fled on foot after the employees did not give him any money.
Police say Hopkins is the suspected of robbing a Scotiabank one day later.
He allegedly entered the bank at 6750 Island Highway North, near Costco, at around 3:30 p.m and produced a note demanding cash. Police say he simulated having a weapon in the robbery.
The man was given an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.
Police say he will remain in custody until Feb. 13.

Brandon Maxwell Hopkins - Another Hopkins Criminal

Bruce Maxwell Hopkins and his son Brandon Maxwell Hopkins share an irrevocable bond as career criminals.
Bruce already previously convicted of fraud passed many of the same issues on to his troublesome burnout son who is well known to authorities in several Canadian provinces, mainly Alberta, BC and Ontario where he has been charged with many counts of fraud, using someone else’s ID to avoid detection, assault on a peace officer, breach of probation, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and so many traffic violations that he most likely could not obtain insurance if he tried.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in this corrupt family.

Bruce Maxwell Hopkins pleads guilty to 22 charges, faces jail time

Calgary contractor and the former star of a home renovations TV show, Bruce Hopkins, will face a sentencing hearing in September in connection with charges under the Fair Trading Act.
Hopkins, 54, pleaded guilty Tuesday to 22 charges involving allegations he unlawfully entered into contracts by failing to comply with the requirements set out in the prepaid contracting business licensing regulation.
According to an agreed statement of facts provided by Crown prosecutor Tony Bell and defence lawyer Joel Chevrefils, Hopkins, through his company, The Remodelers Ltd., entered into nearly two dozen renovations contracts without providing sufficient details of services as required.
Both Hopkins and his company had faced 90 charges each under the Fair Trading Act.
In December, 2015, Hopkins said he was prepared to fight the charges.
“I understand Service Alberta had a job to do, and I understand they have to get … some kind of vindication for people’s losses,” Hopkins said in a phone interview.
“We will have our day with Service Alberta and their rush to judgment with regard to satisfying a perception in the public that they did their job.
“We are prepared to vigorously defend ourselves on these charges.”
Service Alberta launched an investigation a year ago after receiving complaints from 27 individuals alleging Hopkins collected large sums of money for unfinished renovations or projects that were never started, before the bankruptcy of his Calgary-based home renovation companies.
Hopkins could face up to two years in jail, or a significant financial penalty on the charges, which aren’t criminal offences.

In response to your ridiculous statement this sad excuse for a man that you speak of is a scam artist who has a long standing history of defrauding unsuspecting victims in British Columbia and Alberta. He took millions of dollars in funds that should have been placed into trust and spent the money at free will out of his general account instead of putting it towards the actual work it should have funded; he was literally robbing Peter to pay Paul by doing so. He took huge deposits only days and hours before he put his companies into bankruptcy and used this money to pay off unrelated bills and provide preferential treatment to certain clients who he feared. He had absolutely no intention of ever completing this work given that he had taken the money for on these numerous projects, which amounts to fraud. It has also been said that he took enormous direct cash payments from clients on the side and utilized the resources of his company to complete these other projects off the books to further fund his lifestyle and gambling addiction. Often times no contracts were provides, scopes of work or anything written. By doing so he further defrauded his actual customers, many of who lost everything. This man is a scam artist, addict, career swindler and pathological, narcissistic liar in every sense and must be brought to justice for his crimes. If he's a representation of everything you stand for in life than perhaps you need to look in the mirror and take another look at the people you surround yourself with. If the system won't protect these victims than the least we can do is put this information online to protect anyone who may cross his path in the future and keep unsuspecting victims from paying anymore funds to him or whomever he's hiding behind.

Bruce Maxwell Hopkins is at it again working behind the scenes as "Executive Producer" at a new company called "Media Link Productions" operating out of Calgary, Alberta.
This company is claiming to have backing form the Alberta Film Fund and producing the same content that he was previously working on at Remodel It! Media & Productions Ltd. (AKA Boom City Productions) prior to running it into the ground and taking his creditors to the cleaners.
This man has ruined countless lives with The Remodelers fiasco and this career scammer needs to be stopped. DO NOT spend any money with this company. If they contact you RUN the other way.

It has been found that Bruce Maxwell Hopkins was previously charged with fraud as referenced here by the reputable Calgary Herald:
Source: http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/bankrupt-contractor-has-previous-fraud-conviction
Bruce opened another renovation company called "Reno-Right, Inc." under the name of his daughters boyfriend Samuel "Sam" Jonathan Moore. They simultaneously registered the domains "reno-right.ca" and reno-right.com" for this new venture. The business is registered to Bruce's home address but the websites are not. Bruce lives in a rental property and does not have any assets.
In addition to filing for personal bankrupcy (for the second time) Bruce has also but both of his companies "The Remodelers Ltd. and Remodel It! Media & Productions Ltd. aka Boom City Productions" into the receivership of Hudson & Co. out of Calgary, AB.
Stay tuned for further updates...
