I just purchased a 2009 Honda Accord EX on 11/5/08--upon leaving the dealership, with 11 miles on the car, the TPMS indicator light came on, and has stayed on ever since. Took the car back in on 11/7/08, and the service dept. only says that the tires "may or may not" have been checked for proper inflation, despite my insistence that they be checked, as well as the TPMS sensor(s). All involved at Bryan Honda are unwilling to provide ANY documentation of the car being in for any type of service on this date.

The dealership is a 75-mile round trip, and the only miles that have been put on the car have been to the dealership and back now. Their latest "attempt" to fix this problem was to try to convince us to go to a local tire shop and get nitrogen in the tires, which American Honda Corp. themselves cannot say will fix the problem, and cannot deny that this may indeed alter or invalidate our warranty on the TPMS system if the problem persists.

We fear driving the car, and have been absolutely advised not to do so by our auto insurance company--this car is a hazard, and the whole process a disaster. The TPMS stays on constantly, and is not and "on and off" situation as one might see with fluctations in temperature changes.

We have been loyal customers to Bryan Honda (two cars in the last year), but now know that they want your money and then want you to leave. Period. Heaven forbid you should have a problem or need their service department! They are rude, insensitive, uncompassionate and uncaring to your needs and desires once they make that sale. I've had much better treatment in Sanford and Southern Pines (my last four cars have been Honda Accords). I have filed complaints with the Dept. of Consumer Protection and the BBB so far, and hope to get this matter resolved. No one should have to be stuck with a defective new car, and Bryan Honda is willing to sell them without hesitation or concern for your investment or your well-being.

Common Sense?

#6Consumer Suggestion

Where did common sense go? They put those TPMS on cars cause people were too stupid or lazy to look at their tires OR to take the time to check the pressure in their tires. So they come up with a system that says: Hey dummy, your tire(s) needs air. Bought my wife a mazda last month and 13 miles away from the dealer the TPMS light comes on. I get out, walk around the vehicle, check the tires, which all are fine and drive away. The following week, take the the vehicle back to the dealer where they replace a bad valve stem sending unit. Why in the world would you fear driving the car and why in the world would the insurance company advise you not to drive the vehicle? It's an idiot light for idiots, nothing more. It's like the moron who sat in front of me at the red light. Drive through that same intersection for the last 15 years. IF a vehicle is coming from the right, the light will turn red for 30 seconds to allow that vehicle to enter, then turn back to green. This old fool actually sat there for over 10 minutes until there were dozens of vehicles sounding their horns trying to get him to move. He finally looks both ways and SLOWLY goes through the intersection. Not a car in sight from any other direction. The insurance company is just covering their butt, you're the one without a vehicle.

This is a Factory Warranty issue. Try the following:

1. Take the car to a different Honda dealer who should fix the problem without cost to you.

2. If they refuse to fix it, take the car to the repair shop of your choice and then sue Honda for the cost of the repair under the Breach of Warranty doctrine. Include BOTH dealers as co-defendants. That should just about make all their days.

3. Picket the dealership with a sandwich sign saying "This dealer does not honor the Honda Warranty". Do this towards the end of the month, especially on the weekend.

4. Paint "Lemon" on all sides of your car. Put Lemon decals all over it and continue to drive it around.

5. Have a bumper sticker made that reads "I got this piece of crap at Bryan Honda"

Somehow I think they might get the message.
