Complaint Review: Bud and Marsha Houston

Bud and Marsha Houston Country Dream Agility, Tea Cup Agility Houston's Workshops a Rip Off Waterford, Ohio

I attended a Bud Houston agility workshop in North Royalton, Ohio at a dog club.  I paid $250 to attend this 'workshop' at a local dog club.

The workshop was the very worst I have ever attended.  Bud Houston was arrogant and made it a point to demean people who attended.  To add insult to injury, Bud taught the EXACT same things Sunday as he did Saturday.  I paid for 2 days and expected 2 full days of information, not rehashed information both days.

The club where I took the workshop will not refund my money.  They say that they lost money on the workshop.  Renee Roth the trainer that put the workshop together has apologized for disaster called Bud Houston Workshop.

Be very skeptical before you spend any of your hard earned money on anything from Bud Houston.

Why don't you just try it all again. If the check was actually turned in right away then it's likely they wanted to make sure the Check wasn't fraud of it's self.

A string of emails from last year when the event was booked have surfaced on a yahoo group.  They are all from Renee Roth to Marsha Houston.  Not one email is from Marie Goodwin.  She had nothing to do with arranging, requesting or any planning any details of the event.  It seems impossible that a person who had nothing to with the event (except now Marsha holding her alone responsible for the bill with a lie that she owns Ohio Air Dogs) could be prosecuted for defrauding.

The fact there was NO contract, Bud agreed to wait to cash the check but Marsha ran it to the bank before they agreed it was to be cashed (which was for the wrong amount because Bud included hotel which Ohio Air Dogs paid) and no communication with Marie Goodwin making arrangements or personally committing to the seminar prior is proof that Marsha needs her head examined and has an axe to grind.

And we have also been told Renee Roth emailed the Houston's offering to make payments for the debt but the Houston did not respond.  I assume they would prefer to grind their axe against Marie Goodwin then get paid.  Very interesting.

With all this considered......  someone has a good case and it isn't Marsha Houston.

Your story changes like the wind.  You went from healthy seminar, to Ohio Air Dogs having a bad reputation, to Ohio Air Dogs having novice agility people.  The fact is the seminar didn't sell because it was BUD HOUSTON giving it.  I do agree that Renee Roth should have never booked him (Marie Goodwin did not have anything to do with booking the seminar, planning the date or any of it.)  But somehow Marsha sticks marie with blame and the bill.  Marie did not even attend the seminar.

Now you 'say' Marie said it was her her seminar.  The word 'say' is used very casually because it's heresay from you, someone who clearly has an axe to grind and has a problem with the truth..  Marie Goodwin does now own Ohio Air Dogs, another untruth from you.  Seems to be a pattern here.

I have also been told that Bud collected the hotel bill from Ohio Air Dogs when he left stating the hotel charged him.  That wasn't true Ohio Air Dogs paid it.  Bud double dipped.

You may want to ask your attorney about tortuous interference with business.  I would bet you will be come very familiar with the term in the next few days.  Theft would be another word you will become familiar with for a puppy you stole.

Karma is coming back to the Houston's from people in their own organization.  There are several training blogs red hot from this issue and not surprisingly, all have an axe to grind with the Houston's.  It has been entertaining seeing teacup judges flock to show their dislike for the Houston's.

There is a pattern here and it's not from Ohio Air Dogs.

This is pure retaliation for the criminal proceedings

None of the "facts" listed were mentioned until we began assembling criminal charges for a pattern of behavior designed to defraud small businesses. This situation is pure retaliation for our efforts to bring criminal proceedings against Marie Goodwin in particular, and Ohio Air Dogs in general.

If you paid $250, while others in the seminar trained for $25 or free, you should be looking to Ohio Air Dogs for your refund. After all, Ohio Air Dogs (specifically Marie Goodwin, who told us, "this is MY seminar") is the only organization that got money for the event.

You paid Ohio Air Dogs $250, while others paid $25 or less.  Ohio Air Dogs (Marie Goodwin) paid us nothing. Your complaint is with Ohio Air Dogs. These reports have been filed by Marie Goodwin herself as retaliation for our efforts to collect the money she owes us. Period.

You can't have it both ways dear.  You said and I am quoting:

"The seminar took place in late April. It was a healthy, full seminar."

Now you say the seminar had to be discounted for people to come and people didn't come because:

"(students wouldn't come to Ohio Air Dogs because of their reputation for being too novice, and they had an opportunity to cancel)"

It should be obvious to anyone reading this that you have an axe to grind and are not be honest.

And add this simple fact.  If a great agility instructor goes anywhere to give a seminar ....even a 'novice club' they fill up the sell out.  Bud Houston did not because he is not sought after or highly regarded.

Facts

Here are some documented facts.  The truth seems to evade Marsha Houston.

Marie Goodwin does NOT own Ohio Air Dogs.

Marie Goodwin is NOT responsible for Ohio Air Dog Bills.

Marie Goodwin had nothing to do with any communication with the Houstons for booking the seminar.

There was no cntract with Ohio Air Dogs and the Houstons.

Renee Roth offered to make payments on the seminar but the Houstons did not reply.

A few weeks before the seminar, Ohio Air Dogs had no choice but to discount seats and give them away to fill them.  People did not sign up.

Ohio Air Dogs receieved complaints about the seminar from the majority of the attendeees.  The complaints were that Bud was demeaning, arrogant and seemed to enjoy embarrassing people and taught the exact same thing for BOTH days.

Ohio Air Dogs LOST money on the seminar.

I could care less about your relationship or lack of with Ohio Air Dogs.  And you surely know nothing about what i paid because i did pay $250.

Everything I stated in my complaint was 100% true.  The workshop was terrible, Bud Houston was arrogant and demeaning and he taught the same thing for both days!

I apologize

I apologize for suggesting in my rebuttal that the skill level of the seminar attendees was low, or that attendees were unprepared for the material presented. It is unfair to bring the lovely folks who actually bought working slots in this seminar, and paid Ohio Air Dogs, for the deteriorating relationship between Marie Goodwin of Ohio Air Dogs and us.

Retaliation because we filed criminal charges

Bud and Marsha Houston entered into a contract to provide an agility seminar based on information provided by Renee Roth, at Ohio Air Dogs, in North Royalton, Ohio.

Ohio Air Dogs had trouble coming up with the deposit to guarantee the weekend. They had trouble getting people to come because other agility trainers in the area threatened to ex-communicate any students who patronized Ohio Air Dogs.

Unbeknownst to us, Ohio Air Dogs has a horrible reputation in northern Ohio, and few serious agility trainers will go there. We've been told that working slots in the seminar had to be given away, or sold for $25, in order to fill seats (so that $250 working slot was non-existent).

Bud Houston provided an agility seminar which fit the skill level of the attendees (low) and returned home feeling he had improved that skill level over the 2-day event.

He also returned home with a rubber check. They've refused to pay for the seminar. The owner and manager of Ohio Air Dogs has several RipOff Reports filed on her. We're in the process of collecting reports from others being ripped off by Ohio Air Dogs and establishing a pattern of criminal behavior to defraud businesses and individuals, so the owner (who is a long-time scam artist, from information we're gathering) has filed this report in retaliation.

The complaints filed with us (after they had spent the seminar money on other club projects and couldn't pay us) were that they had trouble filling the seminar (students wouldn't come to Ohio Air Dogs because of their reputation for being too novice, and they had an opportunity to cancel), that they had to give away slots or sell them for $25 (so the writer's $250 working slot was non-existent), and that the information was insufficient (people can't learn what they're not prepared to learn).

The complaints that Bud Houston was insulting came after we filed criminal suit for a pattern to defraud. We have countless repeat seminars and camps, and Bud is a popular and skillful seminarist, addressing the issues of the handler before him. We don't insist that all attendees have a specific skill level.

The owner of this club, Marie Goodwin -- the writer of the ripoff report -- has a relaxed relationship with the truth, to say the least.
