My wife and I often rent vehicles from Budget/Avid rental and at times for a month at a time. Well we extended our rental agreement via telephone directly with customer service who stated they just needed to update the rental return date. Now after returning the car which should have cost approximately $900, we see they charged us $2000 without consent. When I called to complain they stated the car was return with a bunch of stuff in it, filthy dirty and they had to call a repo company to get the car. We cleaned the car prior to returning it, nothing was left in the car and we returned it exactly the day and time we said we would. The best part is I was receiving threatening text messages amd phone calls by an employee stating they were an police officer who works for the government. Not smart to impersonate an officer of the law as that's a felony amd doing it a voice mail and via text. From what I've seen this is a common practice by Avis/Budget rental. They lied about so many issues and no one could answer questions. When they found out I have meticulously kept dates, names and am very organized I was refund the late charge which was completely bogus, the fees for excessive cleaning which we have pictures but no one seems to be able to deal with the repo side. The car was in my driveway so not sure why they charged a $350 repossession fee.

Moving forward I have yet to see the fraudulent repossession fee and have contacted an attorney. Watch your step here because the corporate side adds every charge possible to get over on people many of which probably never notice. They stole nearly $1200 and a good part of that I'm still fighting for. Absolute thievery if you ask me. They dropped the ball on their end but the customer pays. I only got the money back that I did after being told nothing they can do and not their problem because I happen to know the managers boss that told all those lies and made those statements. He screwed up pretty bad until he realized his job was on the line. Never again will myself or anyone I know do business with this company of thieves who basically steal customers money without their knowledge.
