I've been staying at the Budget Suites for about a year now and it has got to be the worst place I've ever lived and ever personally dealt with in all the 3 years of taking on the responsibilites of living on my own. Now, choosing to move in here I had already known it wasn't the most luxuorious or nicest please to live but at this point in my life it was the cheapest and most convient considering finacially and the location being nearby work and family. When I first moved in here I had already knew the manager and was actually a good friend of his. He was nice, understanding, and actually worked with you. (Because if you're already living here you're obviously stuggling in some sort of way, right?) It was a shame hearing about him being let go because I didn't know what I would have to deal with as the new managment took over. Now since my 1 year of living here I've always been targeted or hassleded or treatede differently to (what i'm assuming) my age and how I look (my style, the way I dress, present myself) which is wrong in the first place because I'm a 19 year old girl living on my own trying to make ends meet and progress with my life independently. Budget Suites doesn't see that though. Now I live on the bottom of a 3 story building and my room is facing the parking lot in the very back. I hated my location ever since I moved in but it was the only thing availavble at the time. My room is also suppose to be "cheaper" due to the blood stain on the carpet that they swear up and down is only an, "oil" stain but last I remember oil stains are black and blood stains are orange. They also gave me a room with an HD TV which is $10 more expensive which I did not ask for either but still have to pay for. Another thing, living on the bottom floor costs more too, and being a young woman in such a shady complex I personally don't feel 100% safe at night my room being so vulnerable and an easy target being on the bottom. Recently, I've been finding bugs in my room which I absolueley cannot tolerate! I even found a geicko in my room the other night too! Not only that I've had to have maintence change my AC twice due to them failing because they refuse to do any sort of updates to their units. With all these cons piling ontop another over the year I read in their policy that if you wish to transfer rooms it'd be a fee of, "$75." Okay, so on top of my rent which is $224 trying to get an additional $75 isn't all that easy. Well I finally got the money to where I can pay my rent and pay the $75 transfer fee. I go to the office to talk to the manager about any available rooms I'd be able to switch to, the manager then grabs the reiecepts of my previous payments of rent, late fees, and any Wi-Fi connections for internet. He looks through it all then proceeds to tells me, "No." He straight up denied me of switching rooms when, 1. I am ahead on my rent as of the date and 2. I have the $75 transfer fee to pay. He denies me of transfering rooms simply because, "I've been late on rent too many times." Which doesn't state anywhere in their policy of denial of request due to ones amount of "being late." All I was told by every manager beside this one, whose named Cody, by the way, only asks for the transfer amount. I looked over their rules and regulations/policy agreements and everything I signed moving in and it just says that I aquire the amount needed. It states nowhere in their rules that there must be a certain number of times that you must have you rent paid on time in order to transfer. Now, not only did he deny me of the fact but he was extreamly rude about it and said that he shouldn't because, "I showed that I don't pay on time so why should I transfer you?" He treated me as if I haven't given them hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the past year of me living unhappily in my room. He did not care if I were satisfied or not. He did not care if I were living there or not. He did not care about my feelings or well-being. He was the rudest person I have ever dealt with in a complex and only made me want to move out. I no longer felt(not like I did before) as if I should be giving my money to such a person who was so unappreciatve of my hard work and so unkind and uncooperative to my living situation which is apart of his job. He handled it poorly and would not allow me to move rooms simply because, "He didn't want to." He was pretty much telling me that he wouldn't give a s*** if I lived there and pretty much provocking me to get the f**k out and I was extreamley offended and was filled with rage. I comply with all their rules and regulations for as long as I've lived here, give them rent when they seek it, pay my late fees, paid my pet rent, and whenever they requested something I respecfted their wishes and followed. I don't know how this man, Cody, has a job, got a job, or has kept his job but he needs to be fired immeditatley. Life is not easy, especially when you're 19, a girl, and living on your own and trying to take care of yourself and pay a rent of $224 each week, on time. In the end they just get more money with all the late fees added up anyways, making it a whole womping $305, so why is he b******* again? Maybe I'd be on time more so if I were happy and comfortable with my living situation and the room I were in. Why would I want to continue to pay for a room that I dislike? Who would? Someone please help all I want/wanted was to transfer rooms..

Welcome to the Real World

You weren't being discriminated against and the only "judgement" is based on your failure to make your payments on time.

So welcome to the real world where businesses are not charities, they don't always care about your "back story", all the care about is your history with them.  And your history with this place is apparently not that great.   You talk about how great the first manager was, but it was also that first manager who put you in a blood stained room on the first floor in the back.   Even though he was great, he is also the one who charged you $10 more for the HDTV.

If they are that bad then MOVE.  You say you are near family(and that was one reason you moved here) so if they are really this bad go move in with your family members temporarily until you can find another place.  If you can't(or won't) do that then perhaps start working on your payment history and making sure you pay ON-TIME EVERYTIME.

Oh and as for the $75, save it and again work on making your payments on-time.  Perhaps in another few weeks ask again showing that you have improved your payment history.  If you show you can actually make your payments on-time they may be more willing to let you transfer.  And then you will already have the $75 ready to go.
