After being scammed by contracters before, I thought we had done everything right. We contacted Built Write through servicemagic, a referral company, and they agreed to build our fence. We paid 1/2 deposit, which is standard. We also did a license verification through the contracting board, checked the BBB to see if there were any complaints, and did some searches to make sure this was a legit company. Someone did come out and mark the utility lines to start building the fence, but after two weeks of no action, we called to see what was going on, and no answers.

Our salesman just had a message on his voicemail saying to call Built Write directly, but no one was answering any of the lines. I went to their office on July 23rd, and it is locked tight, but the first time I visited there were a number of trucks, fence supplies, and other equipment that isn't there anymore (Aug 2nd.) We did talk to Robert Cargeeg once, he called us after we filed a complaine with the Better Business Bureau, and he said he was selling to another company, and they would call us to finish installing our fence.

After not hearing from them on the promised date, I went to the Built Write offices and I found one of the "purchasing companies" trucks in the lot, and called them, only to find out they are not buying Built Write, but liquidating all of his fencing supplies. They are not interested in working with any of the current "customers" of Robert J. Cargeeg. Did a google search on him, and this isn't the first time that he has scammed people, he has done this similar type of thing before when he was a stockbroker. He is stealing money, and not delivering on what he has promised.

UPDATE 08/11 Built Write trying to make good.

UPDATE - Spoke with Robert this morning, and he is trying to make good on the promises of his company, Built Write Fence. Try contacting him through his email - found on the company web-site, this seems to be the best way to get a hold of him. It is sad that this economy and housing bubble is hurting so many people, builders and home-owners alike, but the key is for the person with integrity is to communicate with the customers to keep them informed on what is going on, it is easy to jump to conclusions when all of the facts from both sides aren't known. Robert Cargeeg seems willing and earnest in his efforts to make sure his customers are being taken care of. He promised answers by the middle of this week, and if he follows through I will offer my full mea-culpa on this site. Read the other updates, it seems that this company is trying to make good on other jobs, so if this is really so, my praise goes out to someone willing to address the problems and work to make them right.
