i had sold 2 mobile phones through paypal or what i thought was paypal i had recieved a payment from paypal and i sent the phones to nigeria, then upon reading the payment information from paypal its wasnt genuine,so i emailed it to paypal and they confirmed that the transaction wasnt genuine,so i lost my phones, and paypal said they would let local authorities know of this scam email, the next thing i know i am getting emails and phone calls from the EFCC in nigeria, stating they had caught the thief and had him in custody,i then had to prove i was the owner of the phones and confirm the postage number, they also stated i was to be compensated for my loss and was awarded compensation of 5000 pounds, but i had to pay fee for the dispatch of an atm card, then i had to pay for insuring the item back to the uk,then i was given a tracking number by DHL express, item was sent to me just as it was being delivered it was recalled by nigerian customs,i had to pay money for a document to get it released, then had to pay for an ecowas document, then a document from the NDLEA then from the inland revenue, then from the president, have letters from banks, minister of finance,DHL usa by this time my compensation had risen to 80,000 pounds due to the fact all the money i had sent and lost.i have been in contact with the EFCC and got a response from ibrahim lamourde who was the stand in chairman,i was then contacted by a team AFF team, but have not heard from them for months now and now the chairperson is a woman,i have been in touch with embassys and allsorts with no help,i am on the brink of bankruptcy because of these people and i still dont know wether this was a scam or not.i have all the emails and documents from these people, they have ruined my life no end and i just want justice..

Nigerian government officials are known for requiring bribes from any business that wants to business in Nigeria - You have to pay a bribe just to be considered. The biggest bribe gets the contract.

Its all over the Internet NEWS too

NIGERIA IS THE LAND OF THE INTERNET RIP-OFF! WHY DID YOU DEAL WITH NIGERIANS?

I go to school with some very nice, honorable Nigerian students and when I showed this to them, they said that this is a VERY OLD SCHEME in Nigeria, that the theives would continue to scam you until you had NO MONEY LEFT!

Nigerians advertise on eBay, craigslist and wherever there is a place with online outlets to sell or to buy merchandise, you will find a NIGERIAN SCAM ARTIST.

My friends tell me that Nigeria is a very poor country with many people and not much formal educational opportunity. So if people are going to survive, they are going to have to have a lot of streetsmarts.

YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE DEALT WITH THE PEOPLE ONCE YOU LEARNED THAT THEY WERE FROM NIGERIA.

My friends say that you need to deal with NIGERIANS IN PERSON and to make SURE that you will be paid or if you are going to buy the merchandise from them TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ACTUALY PHYSICAL POSSESSION OF THE MERCHANDISE AND YOU GET A RECEIPT FROM THE NIGERIAN MERCHANT YOU BUY IT FROM.

Go to youtube and type in "I Go Chop Your Dollar" in the search engine and you will see the elaborate schemes that the Nigerian scammers will do to STEAL YOUR MONEY.

Do ALL Nigerians steal? Of course not but most on the Internet DO!

THEY STEAL A LOT!

The Nigerian students I know tell me to warn people about this.

They claim that Nigeria INVENTED THE INTERNET RIP-OFF (The scam letter writing and financial fraud.)

And a lot of Nigerians are now here in the United States and using regular e-mail addresses for their scams.

I am sorry for you. The Nigerian students told me to tell you that they are sorry too.

There are plenty of other scams that will steal from you too..
