I have never written a negative report before, but I felt compelled this time in hopes that others take extreme caution when buying a vehicle from Bullet Motorsports or Jonathan Perque. I think that it is also important to note that I love cars, but I do not know everything about cars and although I could have purchased a car cheaper through a private party, trusted the dealership and their written commitment to the satisfaction of the customer and their process for inspecting and certifying their cars.

I purchased a 1969 Camaro SS tribute from Jonathan and it looked awesome on the website. I was looking for a driver and not expecting a show quality car that I would trailer to shows and leave in storage. It was priced lower than other cars that I had seen at other dealers around the country ($25,000) and after talking with Jonathan on the phone a couple of times, I felt confident that there were not any major issues with the car, but expected that there would be some work that would need to be done in order to be a really nice driver (ie. disk brakes, engine tune up, etc.).

For $25k, I was expecting that I would be able to at least drive the car and put some money into it as I had it. I was told that the suspension was "Aggressive" and that it needed new electronic ignition to keep the car running as it would not stay running when putting the car into gear. I trusted that since they go through so many cars, that they know what the car needs and would not mislead me (I know, I am really naive when it comes down to it). I took the car to a reputable calassic car garage and the list of safety issues that they have shown me is staggering.

The garage has shown me all of the issues and why it is not safe to drive. I will have to invest a lot of money and time to get this car to the point where I can even drive it (it has been in the shop already for over 3 months).

If you already know everything about cars and can call BS when you see it, then this post is not for you. This is for those guys like me who expect to get what you pay for and expect that if a car is being sold as "certified" and "inspected", that you can trust that it is not just a good looking peice of junk that someone is just trying to unload. I have seen some really good looking cars on the bulletmotorsports.com website, so I don't think that they are all bad. I do know that if I would have taken someone with me to look at the car that knows how to inspect a classic car (instead of thinking that it LOOKS good), I would not have purchased this car to begin with and someone else would be writing this report.

I have tried to discuss this with Jonathan, but the response that it was my problem now and that the car was not mis-represented on the website. The website description and pictures made me think that I HAD to buy this car or I would be kicking myself for not doing it. Now I am kicking myself because I did.

As happens in a lot of circumstances where large sums of money are involved, emotions ran high and I had a hard time communicating to Jonathan in my frustration. After a number of emails and a phone conversation, Jonathan committed to helping with the expenses of the bad motor on my Camaro.

This car was a consignment deal and did not fall under the same rigorous restoration process that his purchased vehicles go through. He is considering even dropping the consignment side of the business in order to keep his reputation untarnished. I would recommend Bullet Motorsport and Jonathan if you are looking for a classic or exotic vehicle.

Thank you Jonathan for taking the time to understand my problem and respond.
