I am wondering what I should do next? I have got calls from this company called Bureau of Asset Management. They have claimed that I owe 1584.15 to HSBC they started receiving the calls in November, and I thought it was a prank because how unprofessional they were on the phone and when I asked for statement they said ok.

I did say to them that I may contact a lawyer, but I never did because as I said I thought it was just a prank.

They called back today and they asked if I contacted a lawyer and I said no. They threatened that they were going to send a sheriff out to my work to subpoena me to court about this. Or I could pay 825.35 by next wednesday and everything will be taken care of.

I believe that I do not owe this bill and am just wondering what people think that I should do next. Another issue is they will not stop calling me at work. The lady at the end of the phone call today said are you going to pay the 825.35? If your not just tell me to go pound sand. How unprofessional is that? Her name is Gina Morgan and the guy that called me a few months back name is Bruce Thorpe.

Also this is not on my credit report and when I mentioned that to them they tell me of course it is not. Which I did not understand. This company that is contacting me is from California and I live in Maine.

I really do not want a sheriff to come to my work and I really do not want 25 percent of my check being sent to them and that is what they said would happen. I think my best option is just wait and if I have to go to court that is what I will do. What do you all think? Thanks.

Hey guys, I used to work for this company... it's a small company that has no policies, procedures, business plan or ethics. What they have in their "business" are tables, computers, and a bunch of phones with low tech head sets. They buy old outstanding bills called "paper" and then try and threaten people to pay, even if the people don't owe the money. You would be surprised about how many people have paid! Anyway, I know how you could get a hold of the owner. I am not sure how I can get this information to you on this site because I am not sure if I would get in trouble for it.

I want to let you know this much sirs, the owner is unknowledgeable in business. If you want to find a way to get this company to stop bullying innocent people you have to report a request for a code/compliance audit. I know that they dont run on the up and up, and that is why I quit. The address you have is correct by the way.

Hello Ray,

I found out today that I owe 339.09 on that account number. So they are trying to make over 1200.00 off of me.

Marc-
I am experiencing the same issue that you are. I appreciate you digging into the situation. I have had a Gina Morgan constantly calling my work and payroll department wanting to advise them that I am being served. Obviously, I have yet to be served and she threatened me now for 2 weeks.

As you stated, this is not on my credit report and according to your letter, I will contact HSBC as well.

I will keep you updated on my situation as I am going to find out more information. Please keep me posted as well.

Ray

So yesterday I called the better business bureau and they said they never heard of Bureau Of Asset Management and recommended that I call the credit card company. So I called HSBC and gave them the account number they told me that the account was closed in 2002 and I owed 384.69 when the account was closed and the last payment that I made was 31.00 in 2002. So this is 1200.00 less then bureau of asset management said that I owed. Finding that information out will mean that I will end up going to court I guess.
