Business Computer Training Institute BCTI ripoff Does not provide any relevant training or placement that you cold not get from a $5 CD-Rom Gig Harbor Washington

BCTI claims to help people attain job placement and train "qualified individuals" who are admitted to the program begin a meaninful career.

Point one, ANYONE who walks through the doors could "benefit" from the program. The Career Consultants (admitters to BCTI) are entirely evaluated on the number of students they bring in. Not on if they complete the program or if they actually have any interest in being a minimun wage data entry clerk.

Point two, the Career department is responsible for creating an illusion for the accredidation company. You work at McDonalds? Well then you have employment in data entry, which BCTI cons graduates into writing a letter about how they are using what they learned at our school. Totally bogus! Working under the table mowing lawns? Then you are self-employed running your own business. You too can work at McDonalds for $12,000 "education".

The best part is, even if you don't show up for most of the program, you can still submit an attendance appeal (which all are accepted because instructors are held accoutable for retention rates) and you will still be allowed to graduate.

Anyone ever seen the "Video Professior", buy his stuff....it's only a few bucks and you will learn everything (or more) than at BCTI.

PS- If you decide not to go to the "second phase" of the program or get a retail job at wal-mart the minute you graduate....then BCTI will harass you (call incesantly or even show up at your house!!!) until you do.

Why did BCTI change it's marketing to Phase II? The summer of 03, advertising materials reflected that BCTI would help students prepare for their A+ & Network + exams.

Why are all the manuals for Phase II out of date or outright WRONG?

Why can the curriculum director say at staff training sessions, "You know, we really only need to teach pro grow and keyboarding... that's all the employers want." or the other favorite, "We're creating generalists, not specialists..." Well, in my opinion, BCTI creates neither.

Why were people who had their degrees in choir responsible for developing learning materials, especially Phase II Materials? Materials should have been developed by people who had legitimate training and or field experience.

Why was the job of developing the Phase II program given to unqualified men and women who didn't know what they were talking about?

Why were the new web design CDs created by someone who obviously didn't understand how to design lessons plans or identify a learning objective if you wrote it on the board for him?

Why was a woman who came back from maternity leave given a job beneath her previous job - and why was her job given to a church member?

Why are there so many church members employed by BCTI?

Why are there UNQUALIFIED instructors - people without degrees, without professional certifications, without true job experience teaching? People should be going through the qualifications of some of the staff.

Why are the Career Services Offices sending BCTI graduates to temp agencies to find a job???? Isn't that their job? Oh, no, their job was to sucker more people into Phase II.

Why is the company so secretive about staffing changes? Everything is very hush-hush and it is frowned on to even speak the person's name after they are summarily thrown off property.

Why are people who can't read in Phase II? Doesn't that go against the mission statement of enabling "Qualified men and women"? What is qualified - unable to read, unable to follow simple directions?

Why was there such opposition from the corporate office about changing classroom exercises, etc. for the BETTER?

Why is the company so UNWILLING to change curriculum to truly reflect "the needs of today's employers?"

So many whys, NEVER any answers.

I am glad to be gone.
