Buyer's Beware!

VistaPrint's "rewards program" will result in charges to your credit card. Their association with "Business Max" charged $14.95 to my card. Unless I had been paying attention to my statements, I never would have known.

Basically, there's a checkbox in their checkout process that asks if you would like to save $10 by signing up for their rewards program. Sounds straightforward right? Many stores offer savings for allowing them to market to you.

By doing this you are signing up for BusinessMax which describes themselves as follows:

"BusinessMaxSM from Adaptive Marketing LLC enables members to save on office supplies and services, corporate services, professional development and sales tools, and on employee benefits."

It is a 30-day trial that unless you cancel, will automatically bill your credit card.

To their credit, when I called, it was a fairly painless process to get cancelled and refunded. You can tell that they deal with this quite a bit. I'm really surprised that someone like VistaPrint would be involved in this "scam".

We never received any sort of email confirmation. No welcome letter. NOTHING. If they were a reputable business built on saving members money, don't you think that they would send you something confirming that you want to continue your 30 day trial rather than making their money from people who don't receive their emails, or understand the offer.

All it would take is a simple statement on the VistaPrint website that says: "This is a 30 day free trial. If you do not cancel within 30 days your credit card will be charged."

Only thing is no one would ever sign up if they didn't use deceptive practices.

Did you check your spam folders for email confirmation? I read the fine print (Must cancel within 30 days or 14.95 will be charged, etc) and was expecting an email as well. After two days I checked the spam folder- and that's where it was. I don't know about a 30 day reminder, but it's not like it lasts a year.
