I have been notified of this RipOff Report.  For the record, I have not done any of the things Mr. Winston is accusing myself or NW Working Dogs of.  We are not racists, nor have we harassed Mr. Winston in any way.  In fact, just the opposite is true. 

Mr. Winston (under his various and sundry names) has waged a "war" against myself and NW Working Dogs, including making threatening phone calls against women and autistic children.  Mr. Winston's allegations against us are complete fabrications.  Here are the facts. 

In August, a person calling himself "Jose", "John", etc, posted links to protection dog boards on two of our forums - NW Working Dogs and Protection Dogs International.  As one of the board administrators, I followed up to see where these links went, and discovered that both were promoting the OREBA Registry.  The reputation of OREBA and the owner, Kwame Winston, is well known to us and I felt a responsibility to inform our members / readers of who they were.  On August 30th, I posted the following on the PDI forum, which included a comment and also an article that stated Mr. Winston had been convicted of dog fighting:

The following information was sent to me last winter regarding this individuals history. I'm sure we all agree - there is no place for dog fighting in the world of personal protection. On March 21, detectives arrested dog trainer and salesman Kwame Winston, 29, of Miller Ave. in Freeport, on six misdemeanors for training fighting animals and selling them out of his Freeport home. Detectives worked together with I-SPEAK Humane Society to uncover the defendant's illegal operation.

Winston owns and operates the Old English Bulldogs Kennel, which he runs out of his Freeport home. The business has a comprehensive website that describes his dogs as "powerful and athletic," claiming they "should display power and fearlessness in every move and should be ready to defend their owner." The website also contains a definition of the word bulldog as well as links to other sites about bulldogs.

Police say they were alerted that something was wrong at the kennel when agents at I-SPEAK found Winston's website. They then made arrangements to go to his home and "buy a dog that was purported to be a fighting dog," says Det. Sgt. Roy Gorddard of the Nassau County First Precinct.

The agent arrested Winston after finding between 12 and 15 fighting dogs living in his garage and basement in unsanitary and cruel conditions. He is also being charged for criminal possession of a weapon after detectives also found an illegally purchased knife.

Several of the dogs had scars on their faces, and most lived in inadequate cages, says Gorddard.

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter responded by confiscating six dogs and placing them in their shelter.

Winston is charged with multiple felony violations of the Markets and Agricultural Law for Prohibition of animal fighting, including insufficient care of animals. He will be arraigned March 22 in the First District Court in Hempstead.

As you can see, there were no racial slurs of any type, only the reprinting of an article that had been previously published regarding this man and can be easily found on the web.  I am not racist in any way.  This was an issue about not associating with a convicted animal abuser.

After this post went up, we started received threatening phone calls to my home.  To date, there have been about 20.  These all come from "private name / private number" ID's and the man on the phone does not identify himself, just yells, threatens, or sits and breaths heavy.  The first call was answered by my autistic minor child, who promptly hung up when the man continually yelled about 'you white people' and cussed him out.  I answered the second call and it was horrid.  I then checked our boards, and found 6 posts, all cussing and threatening me for putting up the article about Mr. Winston.  I removed the posts for breaking the board rules of conduct.  I then received an email calling me a moron.  Later that night, I received a series of calls from this same individual, the last of which came in at 1am where he threatening to send his "soldiers" to "f*ck" me up.  I said "Mr. Winston, you are a coward." and hung up the phone.  After 8 calls that day, I had to take the phone off the hook. 

From that point on, I have been barraged with threats from this person.  I've received no less then 23 emails, most rambling about 'your kind is haters', calling me racist, saying I have threatened his kids lives, saying he's going to have 'females' take care of me, and talking about a US wide conspiracy against him and all black and hispanic men.  He has also sent me an AOL Instant Message saying, and I quote, "you are f*cking lying white b***h".

I have responded by sending one single email to Mr. Winston on September 3rd as follows:

Your IP was banned and your posts removed because of the profanity and threats in your posts.  People who do not follow the rules and behave respectfully are denied use of our board.

I understand that you feel you are being unfairly accused.  Had you called or emailed respectfully, we could have had a productive conversation.  Instead, you called my private home, did not even introduce yourself, and began yelling obsenities to the minor child who answered the phone.  When he hung up, you called back and yelled, cussed and threated me.  We had no idea who you were and assumed you to be a raving foul-mouthed nutcase who had dialed the wrong number.

It wasn't until we read your posts and emails that we made the connection.

Since that time you have called my home at all hours yelling and making threats, including statements like "I'm gonna send my f**king soldiers over there to f**k you up!".  Mr. WInston, if you don't like being called a thug, please do not act like one.

Your conduct thus far indicates a serious lack of character.  Believe me when I say you will never get ANYWHERE threatening me.

Protection Dogs International and NW Working Dogs are organizations dedicated to responsibly breeding, training and owning personal protection and police / patrol dogs.  It is odd, and very ill thought, for you to threaten people who so highly value their own and their family's protection and security.  Your actions seem quite foolish to me.

Perhaps you might find a way to calm yourself down, before you make even more foolish choices.  If and when you can conduct yourself with respect and dignity, we might have a some productive dialog and address your issues.

This is my ONLY email to this man.  I have not called him.  I have not IM'd him.  However, one of our board members, a police officer, did post their phone number on our board and asked him to call to discuss these issues.  He did not do so.  Likewise when my eldest son heard that Mr. Winston had been threatening both his mother and his autistic brother, he looked up Old Red Kennels on the internet and called the number.  He left a message with his full name, phone number, and told Mr. Winston that is was not okay to threaten women, disabled kids, or any member of his family, and invited Mr. Winston to take it up with him.  Mr. Winston did not return his phone call, instead choosing to email me again saying that I brought my son into this and that now it is a "war".

WE ARE NOT RACISTS!  The email Mr. Winston says I sent him with racial slurs is a complete fabrication.  The word 'n*gger' is never spoken by me and is not allowed in my home.  Mr. Winston's allegation that  "They are sending black babies hanging on the rope." is a complete and total lie.  The thought of such a thing turns my stomach.  The article Mr. Winston references in his RipOff Report regarding a beaten black boy is a mystery to me.  The only article I have knowledge of is the one I posted about Mr. Winston's animal abuse conviction.

PLEASE REMOVE THIS RIPOFF REPORT.  The entire complaint is a fabrication.  Mr. Winston is angry that his association with the OREBA Registry and his animal conviction has been made public on our board.  Please ask Mr. Winston to provide proof of the racist emails he says were sent to him.  He won't because there are none.  Please also ask him to send you proof of the 'black babies hanging on the rope".  This also is a complete fabrication.
