was getting constant email harassment I was also getting many blocked calls from someone harassing me. I was getting about 2-5 calls a day, sometimes more for that entire week. After the first email (which was the exact post you see
against me that he emailed) I responded with, Nice boxer, please stop harassing me. This is basically all there is to our history, he is just a ranting and raving lunatic.

On March 21, detectives arrested dog trainer and salesman Kwame Winston, 29, of Miller Ave. in Freeport, on six misdemeanors for training fighting animals and selling them out of his Freeport home. Detectives worked together with I-SPEAK Humane Society to uncover the defendant's illegal operation.

Winston owns and operates the Old English Bulldogs Kennel, which he runs out of his Freeport home. The business has a comprehensive website that describes his dogs as "powerful and athletic," claiming they "should display power and
fearlessness in every move and should be ready to defend their owner." The website also contains a definition of the word bulldog as well as links to other sites about bulldogs.

Police say they were alerted that something was wrong at the kennel when agents at I-SPEAK found Winston's website. They then made arrangements to go to his home and "buy a dog that was purported to be a fighting dog," says
Det. Sgt. Roy Gorddard of the Nassau County First Precinct. 
 
The agent arrested Winston after finding between 12 and 15 fighting dogs living in his garage and basement in unsanitary and cruel conditions. He is also being charged for criminal possession of a weapon after detectives also found an illegally purchased knife.

Several of the dogs had scars on their faces, and most lived in inadequate cages, says Gorddard.  The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter responded by confiscating six dogs and placing them in their shelter. Winston is charged with multiple felony violations of the Markets and Agricultural Law for Prohibition of animal fighting, including insufficient
care of animals. He will be arraigned March 22 in the First District Court in Hempstead.

Case Updates

Kwame Winston, 30, was sentenced to one year in jail   yesterday and ordered to have no contact with dogs for a year.
Winston was nabbed in March when an animal activist went undercover and   witnessed Winston's fighting dogs after seeing a Web site in which Winston   advertised the specialty dogs for sale.

Winston, whose rap sheet dates to 1993 and includes many drug and weapons   possession arrests, apologized at his sentencing in Nassau County Court in Mineola. "I'm sorry," he told Judge Jeffrey Brown. "I was really trying   to do good. I was trying to walk the straight and narrow."
 
Winston, who authorities said received a certificate from Molloy College in   animal care and enrolled in other veterinary courses at the school, worked   for a Plainview veterinary hospital.
 
But when police raided his Miller     Ave. home in March, they found five pit bulls in  four small cages in his garage, and two bullmastiff puppies in his basement. 

Cops said the dogs were specially raised to fight pigs in a sport called Hog   Catching (Hog-Dogging).

The raid took place after the animal activist contacted authorities and   agreed to be wired with a microphone during a visit to Winston's house on the   pretense of buying one of the fighting dogs. Winston charged $2,500 per dog.

In addition to the dogs, investigators said they also found vaccines and   padded training sleeves used by handlers.

Staff at a shelter where the dogs were taken reported that the pit bulls   appeared malnourished and had markings indicating they had been used in fights.

Winston was initially charged with a felony for training animals for   fighting, a crime punishable by up to four years in prison. He was also   charged with a misdemeanor weapons charge because police found an illegal   10-inch gravity knife in his home.

He pleaded guilty to the weapons charge and a misdemeanor charge of   possession of animals for fighting.
 
"We held him to the top provable count," Nassau District Attorney   spokeswoman Katie Grilli-Robles said, when asked about the reduced charge.
 
In court, Judge Brown raised an issue with Winston over his criminal past,   saying, "Your record - it's quite extensive."
Winston replied, "That's when I was young and stupid." But the   judge cited his 2003 bust for weapons possession.
 Before sentencing him, Brown gave Winston some advice: "I think you   should go back and retake some of your [veterinary] courses and do some good   for yourself."

Kwame Winston pled guilty to animal cruelty last week, in lieu of facing 6 counts of animal fighting, a   felony. The court reportedly plans one year in jail (no fine) when he is   sentenced on July 28, 2005.
 
According to reports, four of his dogs seized had to euthanized due to   injuries. A mastiff puppy found with pneumonia has been adopted, in addition   to a white boxer mix with an injured leg. All of the dogs had allegedly been   kept by themselves, or in twos, in small sky kennel boxes in an unheated  garage. Winston was allegedly selling dogs trained to fight hogs in a pit.

It is believed that his operation, based in Freeport, were part of a larger organization running illegal dog fighting operations in the United States and   selling attack dogs too gang members.
 
Please ask that Winston be sentenced for the maximum penalties allowed,  including a fine, and also be banned from owning, or control of any dog. (NY   State Agriculture and Markets Law Sect. 374, 5. C):

We love our boys ! Thank you One-Of-a-kind ! I have had dogs all my life - mostly rescues or SPCA - and well I have to admit I was a bit troubled going to a breeder for our next pet but we both fell in love with the bulldog breed and

our second January 2010 - Ary, knowing that we wanted a second, immediately told us that he would be very different than our Wrigley and was surprised we were interested in this guy - but he was so handsome ! He knew we were wanting a second but reminded us that this guy would be bigger. He was an older pup (at 6 months) in which Ary was looking for a home for him as he couldn't really find a good spot for him in his program. His primary concern was finding a good home. He allowed us to take him for a couple of weeks to ensure that both he and Wrigley were happy and well the rest is history - He was perfect and HUGE !

(now 95 lbs ) but the sweetest dog you will ever meet. We have not had any problems with temperament and gets along with all dogs and people. He has a very different look than Wrigley but such a cutie ! Both dogs love the beach !

Throughout our 2 year history with OneofaKind Bulldogs - Ary has only been a phone call away - checking on the pups and wanting to know how they are doing.

While many breeders have a bad reputation, Ary is not one. He will be there for you at any time with questions, suggestions, or medications if you need! Great Breeder, great dogs, great service! A little over a year ago my boyfriend Glenn and I were on a mission to buy a bulldog from a reputable breeder. After a few months of researching the breed and other breeders we decided to purchase an olde english bulldogge from Ary. When we found our young boy Nibbler we both instantly fell in love. Ary takes genuinely wonderful care of all of his pups and his kings and queens as well. I found Ary online about a year ago when I thought I wanted an English Bulldog but I knew how many health problems they had. I sent him an email and he called me right away even though it was pretty late at night. He has been in

Like another reviewer, I fell in love with the breed and looked into rescue with little results. We found One Of A Kind and decided to take a look at a litter and I'm so glad we did. Our Margie is ten weeks old now and she's a fantastic pup! She's an energetic and muscular little girl who will be around 65 lbs at adulthood. I found Ary at One of a Kind a few weeks ago while looking for a reputable breeder. I spent some time looking around and couldnt find many breeders locally. When i found One of a Kind i loved the dogs and everything about the
website. I researched them and was very pleased with the reputation and quality One of a Kind was known for. Ary was easy to deal with, open and honest and let me on the property to see the parents and puppies. He answered all my questions and did not rush me at any moment to take a pup. He even told me to take some time and think about it since it is such a long term commitment. After only an hour of thinking about it i came back and picked up my little Bailey. Our search started the beginning of 2011 looking at every website we could find. Then we found Ary at One of a Kind Bulldogs. After looking at all the past and present pics of adults and pups and speaking with Ary, we knew we found the right person. We picked up our Tallulah in May. She is a great dog, healthy, happy, very smart and +65 lbs at 9 months. Ary was more than happy to answer all our initial questions with her. Well, we are so pleased with her we decided to get a second pup, and Ary answered all our questions regarding everything from would it be better to get a male vs female to the initial sleeping arrangements for both dogs. We decided on a male, who we named Opus, and picked him up in November. Ary breeds such great dogs with great personalities that Tallulah has become Opus's surragote mom and the two get along fantastic. Thank You Ary.

Our journey with Ary started 3 years ago...we put our deposit down for a puppy that the parents hadn't even bred yet. When it was time for us to pick out our puppy my husband had just gotten laid off. So we couldn't get one out of the litter we wanted. I called Ary to let him know what had happened. He was very understanding about it. Said to let him
know when we liked another pup and could get one. A year or so later he called us to let us know about this great litter that had just been born. We instantly got online and picked out our little girl. He is very knowledgeable of the
breed and knows what he's doing. He truly loves his dogs and doesn't breed them just for the money. He breeds because he loves the breed and the dogs. I have called and have sent him millions of texts for any questions I have, whether they are little ones or big ones he always answers them. We chose to breed our dog that we got from Ary and used studs of his twice. He helped me the entire way with anything that I needed or had questions on. The second time we bred her we actually drove 13 hrs down to California.

His set up is amazing! And how he runs things is second to none. I am truly happy that Ary is who we got our dog from and that we didn't choose someone else. Thank you Ary for all you've done for us and all of your help!!

I have only positive things to say about Ary at One of a kind. We fell in love with the OEB breed in 2009, however we did not purchase our first dog from him. Shes had health issues from the day I brought her home and we were very hesitant on getting another. We searched and searched for a different breeder and found Ary. From the first phone call I knew we had someone knowledgeable and very attached to his dogs! We ended up getting an amazing little girl from him, that was healthy and happy! He was there to answer any questions and never made us feel as if we weren't important.
Unfortunately our little girl passed away due to a poisonous plant (sago palm) and Ary was there for us through the whole thing, stayed in touch and was very understanding. Almost a year later we brought home our second bully from Ary, a very healthy, smart and active boy. Meeting him and his dogs gave us a whole different view on breeders and health issues when it comes to the breed. Ary will always be and has been our go to guy. He's an amazing person with a lot of love for this breed!

My experience started 2 years ago with Ary at One Of A Kind. I was looking to adopt an adult, through his Rescue Program, but none ever fit my needs with having a little dog, and cats. He was ALWAYS honest with me, and straight forward, and always made me feel important. He never got irritated nor acted as though I was wasting his time. 2 years is a loooong time to deal with someone and each encounter was a pleasant one. Finally after 2 years I decided to go with a puppy. I didn't want a puppy, but it was the best choice. Well I have to say, I should have made this decision 2 years ago. Spanky is the BESTEST puppy ever, and the life of the house. I didn't know much about the breed at all, just liked the look. Ary explained the breed and spent a lot of time helping me understand the breed in the 2 years of knowing him. He is very knowledgable, and very helpful when I have questions or concerns. I have never met anyone so dedicated to their breed in my life. I have always had Danes, and have dealt with a lot of breeders and rescues, but
Ary is by far the BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!! I will praise him to each and every person I run into that is interested in and Oldie, and can not thank him enough for the experience and for Spanky. Ary is now part of our family, and will
always be.

Thank you Ary for our beautiful bulldog! Once we'd finally decided to have a dog in our family, I had the amazing luck of finding Ary and One of a Kind. Ary patiently explained the differences between the modern English Bulldog and his Olde English Bulldog, and after that conversation I knew that we would be getting a dog from him. Ever since we picked up our Margie, we've been in so in love with her. Her temperament is wonderful, she's such a lover and everywhere we go people want to know about her. It's almost like we need to set up a velvet rope when we take her out! And through every silly question I had, every new-parent worry, Ary was only a text or phone call away with an excellent answer. His customer service is second to none. I know others will use that phrase in their reviews, and that's because it's true. He knows and cares for his animals, and will readily answer any questions you have and show you the adults in his breeding program. Just checking out the adults made me so excited to see what our little Marge will grow up to look like. If what you want is a healthy, free-breathing, well-tempered best friend, then give Ary a call. His dogs are bred to live strong, long lives with you. Margie can already jump into the truck at 6 months, I see few full-grown regular variety English Bulldogs who can do that! She's been a breeze to train - she's taken to the kennel like a champ and is very well behaved for Dog Fridays at work. She's even a fixture at the local breweries here in North County San   Diego! There will come a time when I know we need another, when Margie is a little more grown up. I will of course be looking to
Ary and One of a Kind Olde English Bulldogs!

My Fiance and I started out looking for an English Bulldog to add to our family, when Ary found us on Craigslist.  Since my Fiance had some concerns about the health problems of English Bulldogs, we decided to investigate the Olde English breed.  I called Ary and he explained the differences in the breed and set up an appointment for us to come and look at
the parents and puppies that he had on site.  We immediately fell in love with Turk, and were so excited to learn that Turk was the father of Ary's upcoming litter.  We put a deposit down right away!  

Throughout Boca's pregnancy, Ary kept us up to date on her progress, and even let me know the day the puppies were born.  Just from our previous conversations, Ary was able to determine which puppy we would pick, and he was
right!  We fell in love immediately with our little Oguchi!  He has brought so much love into our lives!

Oguchi is already VERY muscular, and weighs almost 22 pounds at 13 weeks!  He is all white with a few brindle "polka dots" on his ears. Every where we go people stop to play with him, and comment about what a beautiful dog he is.  We always refer the people who are interested in the breed to One of a Kind Bulldogs.  In fact, if someone walks past Oguchi without stopping to pet him, he stops in his tracks and looks at them like, "Aren't you going to pet me and tell me how cute I am?"

Ary has always taken the time to answer our questions and offer suggestions and services to help us raise the perfect puppy. He even let us come back to get Oguchi's third set of vaccinations!  When we are ready for another dog, we
will definitely be back to see Ary!
