First, I would like to sincerely thank this web-site for existing, because I almost fell for the popular scam "Sweepstakes Clearinghouse". I was thinking about purchasing the stereo I supposedly "won", until something told me that it was not legit. I will also tell all of you about some other deceptive services I almost fell for.

Some of the first clues that gave me the impression that this might be a scam is the fact that there are absolutely NO phone numbers or web addesses to contact a customer service representative, and, of course, as other consumers have reported, I wondered:"how could this be legit when I NEVER entered a contest?" "I have to pay money to get my so-called 'prize'?" and "if I'm not interested in their products, I can 'pass it on to a friend'?"

Something just told me this was a bad idea. So, I went online to see if I could find any information on them, and this was the first website I went to. Thank God I did, because if I hadn't, I would've fell victim to this evil plot.

Another rip-off experience I have had recently was with BuyRight.com, who offers a credit limit of $5,000 to anyone, whether they have bad or no credit. Since I was having no luck establishing credit with my bank or ANY decent credit cards, I decided to try it. They charge a "one-time application fee" of $149.95, and supposedly you get the amount back as a "gift certificate" once you receive your "welcome package".

So, I stupidly went ahead and gave them checking account info online to pay the $149.95. The following day, after thinking hard about what I had done, I decided to put a stop-payment on the transaction. However, BuyRight.com decided to take out the $149.95 TWO TIMES, on TWO DIFERENT DATES, (and unfortunately my stop-payment did not go through because the lady at the bank put it in wrong)taking my account into the negative, followed by many overdraft fees from my bank. Fortunately, my bank cleared everything up, by stopping both payments to BuyRight.com and refunding me all the overdraft fees I was charged.

Even AFTER all of this, they still proceeded to email me advertisements to accept their service AGAIN. I responded with a nasty :) letter of complaint, and had myself removed from their mailing list. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE!

Finally, there is one rip off campany source that must go by several different names....one card offer I received in the mail said I was approved for some credit card, but it didn't say which one. Even when I called the customer service number, they WOULD NOT TELL ME WHAT CREDIT CARD I WAS APPROVED FOR!!!

Also, I could just tell by the sound of this woman's voice that she was scamming me. Another company that keeps approaching me is the one many of you have mentioned, where you begin with a $250.00 credit limit. On your first bill, they charge you for all these ridiculous fake fees that, when you add it up over the entire year, leaves you with a $9.00 credit limit.

On top of that, once you purchase something with the card, you would eventually get charged over the limit fees, which leaves you with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. WOW. Big spending for them, big debt for you.

Enough said, I do have two services that I highly recommend, who are right now helping me establish credit honestly and FOR FREE: Fingerhut, a small merchandise catalog company (www.fingerhut.com), and Lending Tree, a service that seeks out banks that will give you a loan or line of credit (lendingtree.com).

Both seem to be working out for me. I now have a fingerhut credit account and a generous loan from a bank referred to me through Lending Tree.

Once again, I am SOOOOO GLADDDD I found this website. I hope many people visit this site to save themselves tons of money and worry.

BuyRight is not associated with the sweepstakes clearinghouse

First I'd like to make it clear that BuyRight is not associated with the sweepstakes clearinghouse nor the secured credit card offer mentioned above.

In response to the complaint on BuyRight I'd like to highlight the fact that Faye has not used our services and her complaint, I believe, is limitted to her payment being presented to her bank twice.

We do have a policy of re-sbumitting checks if they do not clear on the intial attempt. Almost every bank does this automatically - this is standard. If the second attempt fails, the bank notifies us and we make contact with our customer to arrange for an alternative payment method.

We are not able to (nor would we want to) resubmit payments that have stop payments placed on them. Had Faye simply contacted us, we would not have submitted her initial payment, let alone resubmitted it. Every returned check costs us $15.
