Ever since the opening of Cactus Car Wash here in N. Charleston, I have been taking all of my vehicles there to get cleaned. In all honesty, I have no problem with the Car Wash themselves, just a problem with the owner and management. Just recently I was approached by a sales person working for a glass company I have never heard of. My windshield did have some minor problems, and knowing that Cactus Car Wash must back this glass company, I allowed them to call my insurance company to deal with my windshield. My insurance company did caution me that this company, Windshield Specialists, did not participate in their glass program and the only warranty I would receive is whatever Windshield Specialists provided. I convinced myself that this must be a legitimate glass company since the management at Cactus Car Wash allowed them to work on their property, so I went ahead and filed a claim.
The next day the installer came to my home and replaced my windshield. First of all, their installer's appearance was far from professional looking. Secondly of all, he appeared that by me being there, was a mere annoyance for him. Still, I allowed them to replace my windshield. My vehicle sat in my driveway the entire day until the following morning when I had to go to work. Sitting at the driver's position, the new windshield appeared to be hazed over and displayed an ocean like rippling appearance. Initially, I didn't pay it a second thought. However, after 3 days of the same appearance, I ran into another glass sales person from another company. With my permission, he walked right up to my windshield, pointed, then informed me that they put in the cheap after market auto glass.
It was then that I recalled my insurance company telling me that Windshield Specialists DID NOT participate in their glass program and that they, my insurance company, would NOT honor their work. The sales person from this other glass company took the time to give me a well needed auto glass education. I was thankful, yet shocked, to discover some of the facts regarding the differences in auto glass. More so, I became angry at Cactus Car Wash for allowing this company to "misinform" their customers and talk them into having their windshields replaced with the worst auto glass on the market.
It would seem to me, that as great as a car wash like Cactus is, the owner/management would have done their research before allowing such a deceitful glass company to work on their property. I wonder if they realize just how damaging something like this could be to their overall profit margin. I know I will never go back to a Cactus Car Wash as long as they allow the Windshield Specialists to work on their property.
Having been well educated by the one glass sales person who took the time to educate me, I will do my very best to spread the word about Cactus Car Wash and their tolerance of a sham of a company like the Windshield Specialists. In order for this poor excuse of a glass company to be a part of Cactus, they must be lining the pockets of the owner/management, or they are getting a piece of the action every time another one of Cactus's customers falls victim to having cheap, cheap glass installed into their vehicle. If that is the case, then whatever you do, stay clear of anyone who says they work for the Windshield Specialists. I know I am boycotting Cactus since they obviously don't care about their customers. The same customers who made them who they are today!
