I was in the market for a F-150 Lightning Pickup truck. I though I had struck gold when Cal Worthington Ford the only authorized Ford SVT dealer called me and Said all I had to do was put $1000.00 down and I will get the first chance to buy the vehicle.
At that time we went over the details of the purchase. I was to trade in my 1999 Ford Escort and add another $2000 dollars to the already deposited $1000. I also told the salesman that I want o finance my deal through Ford Credit since I had an account there already. "No problem!", they assured me. "Everything is taken care of."

The day finally came, I got that call and I was told the vehicle was in State and it would take a day to get it ready. It was great timing because I took two days leave from my military duty and I would be able to drive my trade down and come back with my new, hott Lightning. I packed my son in the car and told my wife I'll be back with the new truck in a day or two.

It was a long trip for my son and I because Anchorage is 390 miles away from where I am stationed in Fairbanks Alaska. When we got there I rented a room and put our stuff in it and headed to the dealer ship. I met with the sales person and it was kinda late so the finance department was closed. We went over the details of the transaction and filled out the actual purchase order. They told me to come back the next day after noon and we will finish then.

I showed up and everything was supposed to be ready. I went to the assigned finance person who then changed the whole deal on me, right there and then. Remember, I said they told me there was no problem and that I had to be back in 2 days. Well, this was my second day and they knew that. What they then told me is I have to put another $1000 dollars down and that the paperwork was not actually ready yet. I reminded them that I got to get back to work and they said it was not a problem. We would fill out the purchase agreement and they will send me the rest of the papers in the mail.

Well, on the way to Fairbanks almost home the transmission went out and my son and I was stranded on the cold deserted Alaska highway for an hour before a tow truck could get to us.
After weathering the storm of that situation, I still wanted to keep and truck and I still do to this point.

Anyway, I got the papers and they were totally different from what "WE" had agreed to. They changed the whole deal into a lease. I never mentioned a lease to these people. "I promise to you I never did" It was so frustrating because I was due back to work and I was 390 miles away from my car so I could not easily walk away without loosing any money. I then began to inquire about the terms of the lease and what kind of interest rate it was. They finance person told me that the leases has no interest rates. Now people look up lease deals anywhere on the net ad tell me what you see about them. Do they or do they not have interests? If I am wrong correct me. I argued and argued but I was not successful I once told the guy I want my car back. He replied, "How soon can you get back here with the keys to our truck and to pick your car. I was stunned. I drove my car there and drove their struck out which never made it. Then I was to front the bill for the flight because they had totally changed the deal that we both had agreed upon face to face.

I was furious and was backed into a corner with nothing to do. I couldn't think at my job and at home. I finally decided to take the deal and figure out my legal rights. After months of research and asking other dealers If I was done wrong, they felt that I was. I am currently on the look out the most cost effective way to get revenge and my money back. I've contacted them for a while one of the guys there threw an open ear to my situation and forwarded the case to the Customer consultant, I even sent out carbon copies of each email to the General manager. what to I get? A slap in the face!! Not even a response in 2 days to say that she acknowledges my situation and is looking into it. I think they feel that because they are a big company that they can ignore me and I will walk away. I WILL NOT!!! I will push and push until I find someone out there to help me. If this is you.................PLEASE HELP ME GET MY MONEY BACK!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess this is not a rebuttal. What you have done is save me a 300 mile round trip to Anchorage and Cal Worthington to buy a used Windstar Van. I have never bought a car from a dealer, because of the a perception of being screwed. I buy my cars from rental companies and have excellent luck. Thanks for the info.

DEAR EDITOR, I'VE BEEN IN THE CAR BUSINESS FOR OVER 25 YRS. I AM QUITE FAMILAR WITH FORD CREDIT. I HAVE READ THIS COMPLAINT AND I AM READING BETWEEN THE LINES .

THIS SCENARIO IS CRYSTAL CLEAR. DEANNA SLACK WAS NOT LYING WHEN SHE SAID IT WAS THE ONLY WAY TO ARRANGE FINANCING. YOU ARE WRONG WHEN YOU SAID IT IS EASIER TO GET A LOAN FOR A PURCHASE THAN A LEASE. LET ME GIVE YOU SOME INSIGHT.

FORD EVALUATES THE CUSTOMER, HIS CREDIT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE STRUCTURE OF THE DEAL IN ORDER TO PLACE HIM IN A TIER GROUP. IN FORDS CASE, TIERS 0,1,2,3,OR 4 WITH 0 BEING THE BEST AND 4 BEING THE WORST.

FORD CREDIT WANTS TO FILL THEIR PORTFOLIO WITH 0,1 AND 2 BUSINESS AND KEEP THE 3 AND 4 BUSINESS TO ABOUT 10 % OF THE TOTAL OUTSTANDINGS.

THE WAY I SEE IT ,IS,WHEN THIS CUSTOMER BOUGHT THIS $32000 TRUCK, TRADING IN A $6000 ESCORT, PUTTING THE BALANCE OVER 60 MONTHS, IT SCORED OUT A VERY LOW LEVEL 4 DEAL AND FORD CREDIT DECLINED IT.

SO THE DEALER "RESTRUCTURED" THE DEAL TO A LEASE. LEASES SCORE MUCH HIGHER THAN 60 MONTH FINANCING, SO THE SAME DEAL ON A LEASE PROBABLY SCORED A LEVEL 2 OR BETTER AND FORD CREDIT APPROVED THAT LOAN. YOU ARE ALSO INCORRECT WHEN YOU IMPLY THAT ALL LEASES ARE LEASED AT 110 % MSRP.

THAT FIGURE IS ALLOWABLE, BUT NOT ALL LEASES ARE DONE AT THIS FIGURE. AGAIN IM JUST READING BETWEEN THE LINES BUT I DO HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS, # 1 WHY DID THIS MAN SIGN A SECOND CONTRACT OVER A MONTH LATER IF HE DIDNT AGREE WITH THE CONTENTS OF THE CONTRACT? # 2 WHY COULDNT THIS MILITARY MAN UTILIZE THE PENTAGON FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, OR THE NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, OR

THE CREDIT UNION OF HIS BRANCH FOR FINANCING? # 3 SINCE WHEN IS PROFIT A DIRTY WORD?

ISN'T FREE ENTERPRISE WHAT SGT.SMITH AND HIS OTHER MILITARY PERSONEL FIGHT FOR? I'M NOT DEFENDING CAL WORTHINGTON, AND THEY VERY WELL MAY HAVE USED SOME DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES, BUT THERE IS A LOT OF MISSING INFORMATION IN THIS DEAL.

DOES SGT SMITH HAVE BAD CREDIT? IS THIS WHY HE COULDN'T GO TO HIS CREDIT UNION? IF HE INDEED DOES HAVE BAD CREDIT IT WOULD ACTUALLY BE EASIER TO GET A LEASE THAN A PURCHASE. SO, IF

SGT.SMITH HAS BAD CREDIT , A $6000.00 ESCORT, AND HE WANTS TO DRIVE THE MOST EXPENSIVE FORD F 150 BUILT, HE SHOULD BE THANKING THIS DEALER FOR GETTING HIM APPROVED.

IF HE DOESN'T HAVE BAD CREDIT, HE SHOULD GET IT REFINANCED AT THE CREDIT UNION, CONSIDER THIS EXPERIENCE A LIFE LESSON,OR

AS DAVE RAMSEY SAYS, PAY THE "STUPID TAX" AND GET ON WITH HIS LIFE.

I DONT BELEIVE YOU WILL GET ANYWHERE WITH THE DEALER TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK OR REFUNDING ANY MONEY BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SIGNED LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT AND THEY CANNOT BE FORCED TO RECIND IT. I LOVE YOUR WEB SITE AND LOOK FORWARD TO MORE HORROR STORIES.

EDITORS REBUTTAL TO THE ABOVE REBUTTAL:

Deanna Slack, appropriately named. I only need to respond to one subject that will prove your a no good liar. You stated the following, "It was the only way we could arrange financing at that time."

Mz. Slack, what planet are you on? It was the only way you could arrange financing?

You typical car selling rip-off liar! ....Most everyone knows it is eaisier to get a loan for a purchase than it is to lease a vehicle! To lease a vehicle, you need excelent credit. .. so you ment to say, "It was the best way for me to screw the customer."

You did a lease so you can sell the car for 110% of the sticker price or more. Who are you kidding. Sure, your saying you can purchase the vehicle after the lease so you can screw your customer even more!

Mz. Slacker, Mr. Smith has no problem with you publishing the numbers. You know showing the numbers will reveal to everyone who can understand the numbers, just how badly you screwed your customer.

We are giving you till Wednesday, May 30th to rectify the situation. The victim is owed compensation on top of your screwing him.

Copy of Letter mailed to Mr. Smith

May 24, 2001

Mr. Smith,

We seem to be going around in circles regarding your purchase/lease of a 2000 Ford F-150.

You have stated that you have more than one contract and/or lease

agreement. I would appreciate if you could send copies of what you have as our files only include one contract dated 2/23/00 and lease agreement dated 4/10/00.

You stated you did not wish to lease as you intended to keep the truck. This is still possible at the end of the 36 month lease you can purchase the vehicle outright or we can help you obtain financing for the residual value of $ (*).

I would like to point out that the contract dated 2/23/00 has an amount financed (line 5) of $ (*). After your trade and down payment, the corresponding figure on your lease agreement (itme 7a) adjusted capitalized cost is only $(*). You were given credit for $ (*) (section 5 of the lease agreement) which included your first payment, so in reality you had 35 lease payents remaining and you only gave us $(*).

You are concerned about the interest rate, it is not an interest rate on a lease, but a money factor which in your case was (*).

I hope this will address your concerns regarding your lease. We by no means meant to harm or deceive you. It was the only way we could arrange financing at that time.

If the items discussed are not as you understand them please send us copies of what you have, and call me so we discuss it and try to give you some answers. I do not believe that e-mailing can substitute for an actual conversation where we can talk one on one about any problems or concerns.

Sincerely,

Deanna Slack

General Manager Cal Worthington Ford

The Auto Buyer's Advocate on the case again...

#120

Tue, February 27, 2001

Volunteers talked to the above VICTIM of DEALER DECEPTION. They had him fax be copies of his purchase and lease contracts. The first one has a date of 2/23/00 which is a purchase contract. It has a selling price of $32335.00 for a F 150 SVT truck. "way over priced in my book" The also did not show the interest rate on the copy I have.

The second contract has a date of 4/10/00 almost two months later. This contract has a selling price to the LEASING COMPANY "FORD"of $36,000.00 and a mileage limitation of 12,000 miles a year.

What I feel the dealership did was, they got the VICTIM to sign a purchase contract and send him on his way. They later found out after taking a "shot Gun " to his credit that they could get Ford's Leasing program to do a lease on this car buyer.

So this "crappie car dealer" sold the truck to the leasing company for a price of $36,000 instead of $32,335 to the truck buyer. This was a clear way for the dealer to make so much more money. The "VICTIM" Tells me that they told him that he would have to sign the lease contract or he would not get to keep the truck. The "VICTIM" tells me that they used bully tactics to get him to agree to a lease contract. Clearly so much more money for the crappie car dealer, if you lease rather than buy your next car.

Note: to one and all

PATTY SHANNON (secretary to the CEO of Ford) DOES NOT WANT YOU THE UNHAPPY CAR BUYER TO CALL HER at all I say call her and tell her how you feel at 1-313-206-2996

So I called The President of Ford Motor Corp Jacques A. Nasser's Secretary

PATTY SHANNON who asked, that I not post her name. I informed her has to what FORD MOTOR COMPANY DEALER did to a man that serves OUR GREAT COUNTRY. She told me that she would have someone from customer relations get right on this, YEA RIGHT!!!!

Customer relations tells the VICTIM O' well, you did buy your truck from an independent dealer and we have no control as to what they can or will do to you. ...Usual BS given by most customer service people who are trained to just give you the run-a-round.

I urge one and all that are unhappy or happy new Ford car/truck buyers to call PATTY SHANNON at her desk number 1-313-206-2996 Which she does not want you to call her on, you can also call Ford Directly at 1-313-322-3000 and ask to speak to PATTY SHANNON and tell the President of Ford Motor corp's Secretary what has happened to you.

Stay tuned there will be more.

FORD PRESIDENT'S SECRETARY TELL'S ME THAT AN CROOK CAN SELL THEIR PRODUCTS AS LONG AS THEY GET THEM SOLD!!

#120

Tue, February 27, 2001

First, I would like to thank volunteers at badbusinessbureau.com for devoting their time in trying to get me justice. The kind that two hard working people serving "OUR" country daily for a total of 10 years deserve. On the other hand, I have Ford Motor Company President's secretary Patty Shannon at (313)206-2996 telling me that Ford authorizes any "JOE SNUFFY" the CRIMINAL to sell their products and make a maximum profit using any Unfair or Deceitful tactics they so well please and there's nothing Ford can do about other than to report it to their regional office. Before this I stood by Ford products, so much that I have two of their vehicles in my lot. Isn't that twisted? I am more devoted to them than they are to me.What great customer service and ethics they have. "YEAH RIGHT!!!"

Anyway, PATTY SHANNON tells me to talk to the general manager at Cal Worthington Ford of Alaska, Deanna Slack whom I sent an email to, dslack@calworthington.com, and have yet to get a response. Two people in high places at Ford that tried to wheezle out of their responsiblity. This pisses me off!! People!! HELP ME!! Call this number and ask to speak to the customer relations person Ina Feist at(907)276-5300 or email her at ifeist@calworthington.com and ask her what she is doing resolve SGT Odean Smith's problem. Hear the excuses that they will tell you. Call them, email them, fax them and let them see that people are aware of their scheme. Help a fellow American who will put his life on the line for you in any situation at anytime. From my fellow military men and women like My wife and myself who work hard for our country and get paid pennies for hours of selfless service. Reach out and hit this car dealership hard and FORD MOTOR COMPANY to if they feel that there's nothing they can do. Support me like I support you. Help badbusinessbureau.com help me get jutice.

Auto buyer Advocate Responce

badbusinessbureau.com

I have talked to this unhappy car buyer (who fathfully has served our country in the military) I have had both contracts faxed to me. Both contracts that the car dealer SHOVED in front of this car buyer's face!

The First contract is a purchase agreement dated 2-23-00.

The second contract that they deceptively got this man to sign was a lease agreement dated 4-10-00.

It seems to me that this crappy car dealer tricked the buyer to sign a purchase agreement and then fired a shot gun to his credit report and found that Ford Motor corp would do a lease on this customer.

Two crappy contracts on one truck HOW IS THAT ???

It seems that this crappy car dealer is getting car buyers to sign two contracts and then when the buyer goes home, the dealer decides which one will make more money. Then they send it to the bank.

I also see that on Ford's list of Blue Oval Dealers, that this SUCKY CAR DEALER did not make the list of Ford's good car dealers. I wonder why ?

Blue Oval Dealers is a list Ford put out with high ratings, low amout of complaints and satisfying the customer.

CAR BUYER ADVICE TO ONE AND ALL.:

If you buy a Ford and you feel that the Ford dealership was deceptive, first come here to the Rip-off Report and file your complaint. This will help you in your quest to get results.

You then call 1-800-392-3673 and explain everything in great detail. Let them know that you filed a report with the badbusinessbureau.com and you will not UPDATE that Rip-off Report untill you are satisfied.

You can also write to Ford Motor Corp. Print out a copy of your Rip-off Report and mail them a copy letting them know you will up date your Rip-off Report with the badbusinessbureau.com when they resolve your situation.

Address it to:

Jacques A Nasser "Ford's President" at The American Road, Dearborn MI 48121

If you want to get the crappy car dealer looked at REAL HARD, Tell Ford that you never got a C.S.I. Survey from Ford Motor Corp.

And after reading What volunteers said from badbusinessbureau.com, that your Car dealer might be diverting the C.S.I. Ford will understand what to look at.

I will not stop on this one untill this dealer makes this man a happy truck buyer one way or another. Car dealers make SO MUCH MORE MONEY IF THEY STICK YOU IN A LEASE, because they sell the car or truck to the leasing company for 110% of the window sticker. Ask yourself who would pay 110% of the sticker when buying a car ?

If the deal is not fixed properly, badbusinessbureau.com will be organizing pickets in front of the dealership with the ripped off consumer.
