Looked at several cars on the lot and saw were many of them were patched for a quick sale. Needing a diecent car I looked Inside the garage and spotted a nice looking 94 Chevy Caviler with a 5-speed tranny and the engine torn all apart. I then enquired about the car to find out that it had over heated and they were replacing the head on it and then it would be for sale. I got to look inside the engine and all looked ok from the top view, but they never cracked the pan to check the rods. The interior was well taken care of.

So I asked the sales fellow to hold the car and to call me when it was done so I could drive it and then buy it if its what I was looking for. Two days later I get a call that she is done. I took her for a drive to see how she was and she drove good. So I proceded to finish all the paperwork. Well while making my payments, it was after my second payment the whole engine blew to pieces. It had shattered a rod in half. Well off I went to calling all the Machine shops and engine shops in Columbia. This after calling Calcars to see what they would do to help me and all they told me was that they would have a replacment engine put in and I would have to pay for the cost and labor seeing as how I bought it "AS-IS"!. So I said screw that I can get it done rite some were else! Upon finding an engine shop and paying $2500 LATER on top of the cost of the car. Plus having to borrow a friends spare car for 2 weeks. I am finaly getting the time to afford to writing this now five years later.

Well the issue came up here in the past month about them when I went to get all the title work done due to moving to a different state. So walking in to the new DMV office and trying to do a title transfer and get new tags I find out there is a lien stamped on the title and Calcars still holds a lien on the car that has been paid off for 5 years now! I was so pissed that I think every one should know how f*#ked up they are there!! After telling the fellow my name and having to spell it out for him 2X's he finally found the paperwork of which NEVER GOT MAILED TO ME UPON WHEN I PAID THE CAR OFF!!!!

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THERE!!!! IF YOU EVER CONSIDER BUYING ONE PLEASE TAKE A CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC WITH YOU TO HAVE HIM/HER GO THROUGH IT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM and INSIDE AND BACK and FRONT TO BACK! THERE ALL AUCTION CARS THAT THEY HAVE BOUGHT FOR UNDER $1000.00 AND JACKED THE PRICE!!!! to $3825....

NEVER AGAIN!!

Not getting your title is wrong. Make no mistake about it, it should have been followed through with. With that fact aside, lets talk about cars breaking down and the facts behind loan companies and or dealers fixing cars.

1st of all, if your credit was where it "should be", then you would not have to buy from these places. Second, why would you ever buy a car that you know had engine problems without first getting it checked out? That is YOUR fault..

Another thing, do really think if you went down to some dealer and got a loan through, lets say GMAC, and the car broke down that the loan company would cut you a break and let you re-fi the cost of repairs into the note? NO! Why do you expect this place to be any different? But, they do that for the customers. And yet, people still bash them.

TAKE some resposibility for your actions people. Think these things through. These are high miled cars and they BREAK! Calcars even tells you this in the contract, and tells you to go get them checked out. READ YOUR CONTRACT!
