California Pets Pets store, puppies, Cat, Dog, Bird, Escondido California
California Pets at North County Mall are shady liars. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY ANIMALS FROM THEM. My girlfriend and I went to this pet store to look for a puppy. We feel for a sweet little 10 week old Chiweenie. Cute as can be. The pup was expensive. We paid $1,300. The salesman provided so called vet reports that showed the pup is regularly checked. However, the only thing they check are visual.
Two days after bringing her home she developed kennel cough. "Kennel cough is an infectious bronchitis characterized by a harsh, hacking cough." We had to take her to the vet, pay for medication and the visit. The Vet we took her to said it is common for pet stores, no worries. A little medicine and some TLC, she will be fine. That night we noticed her feces(poop) was green and runny which was a concern. BACK TO THE VET AGAIN!!!
After more testing and anal probing of a helpless puppy, she was diagnosed with COCCIDIOSIS, "Coccidia are small protozoans (one-celled organisms) that live in the intestinal tracts of dogs. A puppy is not born with the coccidia organisms in his intestine. However, once born, the puppy is frequently exposed to his mother's feces, and if the mother is shedding the infective cysts in her feces, then the young animals will likely ingest them and coccidia will develop within the young animal's intestines."
AND, GIARDIA "Giardiasis (GEE-are-DYE-uh-sis) is a diarrheal illness caused by a microscopic parasite, Giardia intestinalis (also known as Giardia lamblia or Giardia duodenalis). Once a person or animal has been infected with Giardia, the parasite lives in the intestine and is passed in feces."
AND worst of them all PARVO "Parvovirus is a viral disease of dogs. It affects puppies much more frequently than it affects adult dogs. The virus likes to grow in rapidly dividing cells. The intestinal lining has the biggest concentration of rapidly dividing cells in a puppy's body. The virus attacks and kills these cells, causing diarrhea (often bloody), depression and suppression of white blood cells -- which come from another group of rapidly dividing cells. In very young puppies it can infect the heart muscle and lead to "sudden" death." YES DEATH!!!!!!! Plus have to put down $1000 for treatment, hospitalization, and medicine.
She showed sign of improvement so we took her home from the hospital. About 4 hours later she was vomiting and had diarrhea, she looked like she was gonna die right there. Her eyes rolling in the back her head and shivering beyond control. We then took her to a 24hr emergency room. The bill is going to be within another $1,300-$2,700.
In the first 6.5 days of owning this puppy, she has been in the hospital for 4.5 days. The pet store guaranteed she was a happy healthy puppy. Our hearts are broken and so are our wallets. As i type this my pup is basically in intensive care at the hospital. We don't know if she will survive or how much more we are going to have to pay. PLEASE, DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF THEIR ANIMALS. YOU WILL GO THROUGH HELL LIKE WE ARE. IF YOU LIVE IN SAN DIEGO OR NORTH COUNTY TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW MY STORY. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY.
