In the summer of 2002, we hired East West Van Lines to move us from Fresno, CA to Maine. We were given a written estimate, and told that we could use credit cards, personal checks, and cashier's checks.

When the movers loaded the truck, we were advised that the estimate was incorrect. We were forced to pay twice as much as we expected. The mover said not to worry, to call, and have the complaint corrected.

When I called the moving company from the road, our response was no return phone calls, etc.

When our furniture was delivered (late) we were missing boxes of our possessions including our bed! We were also told they would not give us our furnishings if we did not pay in cash.

Then, when the movers dumped all our furniture in piles, and left doors hanging off the hinges, they demanded a tip for which I refused.

It took two months to have the bed delivered. When the bed was delivered, I was told (at four months pregnant) that for them to take the bed upstairs, it would cost me $20.00 for every stair. We have lost valuable personal items, which the company has never replaced, although many attempts were made.
