My mother and I were contacted by telephone to be told by the caller we had won Travel Rewards.

The caller "Kyle Carter" explained at length what we were to receive as part of this "prize".

My Mum was extremely skeptical of this, and handed the call over to me. Unfortunately, despite my initial concern, I got suckered in.

I was handed over to a person called Katie, for verification of my credit card details. There was a considerable delay of up to 45 seconds. This must have been when they were fleecing my credit card account of over $700 AUS or $598US.

After exchanging final "verbal pleasantries" with Kyle and Katie I signed off, and went on to check the details I had been given. A Google search, brought up no results and I was feeling rather nervous. A search via Yahoo - Aus and NZ led me to the Rip Off Report site.

I immediately cancelled my credit card and informed them of the fraudulent scam.

Beware of these Mongrels!

Update on Calypso Cay Resorts

#2Author of original report

Thu, December 08, 2005

Despite my vigilance in raising a transaction dispute re: potential fraud, to my Credit Card company within 30mins of the phone call from "Calypso Cay". My Credit Card was still debited 11 days later.

Apparently, "Calypso Cay" waited for my Credit Card provider to go offline, to slip the transaction through.

My Credit Card provider is following up on this transaction, as they are familiar with the operations of "Calypso Cay".

Fortunately, as I have not signed any paperwork to authorise this transaction with "Calypso Cay", I am covered by the Credit provider for this moment of foolishness.

Returning the travel package info was suggested by Julian in another Rip Off Report and his girlfriend achieved a refund. Cheers Julian! Thanks also to Jennifer for her Report and updates, including Merchant ID, most helpful too. Refund yet to be credited. See next update.

The Credit Card provider are also pleased that I have sent back the information package, (which I surprisingly received!) with a request for a refund. Refund yet to be credited though.

The next exciting chapter awaits......

Keep onto the bastards..........
