Cambridge Who's Who SCAM Scam Ripoff Unethical Liars Uniondale New York
I received a letter in the mail notifying me that I was selected as a potential candidate for the Cambrdige Who's Who publication. I thought that this might me a good chance to further my career so I filled it out and sent it back in to the company.
I received several phone calls before I finally answered one of them and did the 15 minute phone interview. I was told that I would be accepted into full membership due to my "outstnading accomplishments." At the time I thought, this lady, her name was Cheryl Vega, doesn't really understand what I just told her, but I played along anyway. She then informed me of the cost and made it sound like it would cost me $7.95 for a lifetime membership. I agreed to it and later found out it was $795!
Initially, I thought it was a small investment to pay to better my career. however, after about 24 hours I had second thoughts and called Cheryl back and stated that I was exercising my right as a consumer to cancel my membership under the 72 hour rule. (As a consumer you have the right to cancel ANY contract in the first 72 hours.)
The next day I received a call from a Kevin Smith and he asked me to call him back. After several voice mail trades, in which I informed him that I did not want the membership and canceled it in accordance with consumer law, I stopped hearing from him all together. At this point, I called my credit card company and told them the entire story I mentioned here and asked them to initiate a dsipute. I did receive credit on my next statement, but I am still awaiting the final dispute results. I WILL NOT oay these people and will use all manner of legal assistance to fight them and put them out of business if I can!
