Received a phone message today from a CAMCO representative saying it was concerning my social security number. She called me by my maiden name which changed MANY years ago so red flags went up. Checking the internet for the phone number I was led to ripoffreport.com. WOW!

So I called her back and said before we started i was legally obligated to inform her that the phone call was being taped. I then asked her to verify the address I had found on ripoffreport.com. She said she wasn't sure about the address and would check. She supposedly "put me on hold" but actually disconnected me. Short and sweet. I can't imagine WHY they don't want to be taped but it seems to work. Good luck.

Dear EDitor:

I think it is time to begin a whole department of Rip Off Report devoted to offshore scams.

You may remember that I have posted quite a bit of material on Canadian scams but they are literally coming from everywhere.

I've gotten so frustrated with telemarketers who insist that I already owe them something or have already ordered some listing from them that I've probably cut off some legitimate marketers in mid-pitch because I think I know where they are going.

Example: yesterday a guy called up very interested in what kind of printer I was using. You know Mouyal in Canada 'fishes' for this information so they can trick you into buying their overpriced supplies... so I tell him "I really don't know, goodbye!" You get the picture.
