Mr. Adam Coleman has been harassing me in attempt to collect on a debt that was included in bankruptcy filed in 1983. He claimed the ongoing finance charges reinstated the account that should have been closed.

After requesting he stop his harassment, Mr. Coleman stated he would continue to call regarding this debt. When he was told that this debt was beyond the statute of limitations and my rights pursuant to FDCPA, he admitted they could not sue me for the amount of the debt, however, would continue to call me every day until the debt was collected.

If I was not home, Mr. Coleman would leave phone messages in a tone that seemed to mock me. In my last phone discussion with Mr. Adam Coleman, I requested and received the name and address of the collection agency; but, when asked their business license number, he hung up on me. The following phone message from Mr. Coleman stated "you know Mr. Fromm, you cannot run from...do this."

I feel so violated and abused by this company that I would welcome additional information regarding the class action suit against the company and their (Mr. Adam Coleman) collectors.

A debt that has been discharged by bankruptcy is discharged forever. Finance charges cannot reactivate a debt that has been discharged by bankruptcy because it is illegal to even charge a consumer finance charges in a debt that is being discharged in a bankruptcy. He is lying to you.

Write a cease and desist letter stating that this debt has been discharged in bankruptcy and you are not paying. Make sure to tell them you do not wish any further calls or letter on this matter.

Send your complaint with details to the FTC, SEC, and to the Attorney General of your State. Tell him you are sending copies of this cease and desist letter as well as your complaints to these agencies for illegal harrasment.

Also make copies of your complaints to these agencies and include it in your cease and desist letter. Name specifically Adam Coleman as harrasser.

Wish you luck.

#3Consumer Suggestion

Mon, August 04, 2003

If you search through the past reports about this company, you will learn a lot about your rights regarding these types of collection agencies. For example, if you would send them a certified letter telling them not to contact you by phone (or in any way) they have to stop the harassment. If they don't you will have physical proof that they are violating the law, and you can turn around and sue them. There is this guy from Akron, OH who works to stop this type of company, and he is the one you need to read about. In almost all of the previous reports on CAMCO, he has put in a consumer suggestion. He was a great help to me, and I hope you can resolve this problem.

Good Luck!
