I purchased a membership to Timber Lodge RV Park in New Waverly, Tx. from Jim Jerde, owner of Camp Resorts, Inc. I was told on the initial sales conversation that I did not need an escape clause as I could transfer my membership with no problem at all and he would help in this transaction should it ever occur. I had to hurry and send the money as he said he only had a couple memberships left.

With this in mind I signed all the necessary paperwork and now it looks like they want me to pay the rest of my life. I sent certified letters to 3 different people in his organization telling him that I wanted to transfer my membership back to his company and for him to give to someone that could use it and that maybe could not afford the initial fee of over $500. (I paid $495)

My next letter was a 2008 membership card and a letter stating that I was behind on my annual fees of $99 and if not paid would result in turning me over to collections.

I have left 6 phone messages to various people in his organization and no one will have the common courtesy to return my phone call. How can you do any business with a company that will not talk to you? I have filed a complaint with the St. Paul, MN Better Business Bureau, am in the process of filing a complaint with my state's Attorney General's Office, and am looking for others who are interested in filing a Class Action Lawsuit against Mr. Jerde and his companies.

My husband is disabled and we both are on Medicare and feel that we were definitely taken advantage of. Does anyone know how to end a relationship with this man and company and not end up with a bad credit rating? Isn't there a law against predators like this? Has anyone contacted David Horowitz of Los Angeles, who is an investigative reporter that reports scams like this. Any advice would be appreciated. Don't you just wonder what kind of neighbor, father, this man is?

This an Ebay sale Timber Lodge has on EBAY:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270609060915&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1074
Notice the wording.

"Over this time members have discontinued their membership and they are fully paid for. We are looking to reactivate this membership and begin receiving the annual dues ($99)."

He is not selling any thing but a membership that he has sold a 100 times before. How many others are being ripped off and harassed that don't have access to the internet and succumb to his pressure. This man should be put out of business. I used this membership 4 times, One was a good experiences but 3 were bad. A CG in Massachusetts refused to honor the price, the owner was drunk and drove his pickup into a camper on a neighboring site. Another bad one was one that went out business before I arrived.. A third CG was unfit for human habitation. I think that alone is enough to void ant so-called contract.

Another way to fight

I am also in dispute with Timber Lodge/RPI. I have been a member since 2004 and have tried to use their campgrounds 4 times. only one time was satisfactory, the second the campground owner was drunk and would not honor the membership price, the 3rd campground in VA was not fit for human beings and the 4th campground closed ie: went out of business. You might find this website useful: (((Redacted)))

I have followed their guidelines and am prepared to fight!!! I am dying and my wife is in a nursing home....I have nothing to lose! I sent letters and will just tell them to give it their best shot.

No options to cancel response

The options to cancel were provided by Timber Lodge RV Resort. Perhaps because of the different addresses it may not have reached you.

I never provided you any options due to the fact you have and never had any contract or legal agreement with me. There is nothing that exsists that would require my providing options to cancel anything between the two of us.

Inaccurate information/ Additional information needed to respond

The information provided stating Mr. Jerde holds ownership to Timber Lodge RV Resort is completely inaccurate.

I have checked with Timber Lodge RV Resort and have been informed they are unable to locate any member in North Myrtle Beach, SC under the name of Logan. That all of the members have executed a membership agreement disclosing clearly the terms and conditions. That no verbal agreements exisit beyond the membership agreement. The the agreement is an industry standard agreement.

Additional information is required (i.e. membership number, last name, etc.) to properly respond to this report.

Options to Cancel?

#10REBUTTAL Individual responds

Sat, April 26, 2008

Timberlodge Resorts and Jim Jerde did not give me any options to cancel. The only thing they did was to keep sending me a bill stating that my account was past due. I might add, that the bills were sent to Las Cruces, NM, and not Citrus Heights, CA. However, on April 11th, I did satisfy my obligation by paying the annual dues, plus penalty and interest. I have not received any confirmation that this has been received, and that my membership in this ill-advised company has been reinstated.

Timber Lodge Information on Jack from Las Cruces New Mexico

#10REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, March 10, 2008

I have recontacted Timber Lodge with the additional information. The only match they find is a Jack and Bernice Head with a Citrus Heights, California address. The telephone number on the record is an area code 801 which is the entire state of Utah. The record further indicates this account has been sent to Monterey Financial for enforsed collection efforts.

Their records indicate that Mr. and Mrs. Head purchased a membership to their resort in October 2006. That the membership agreement is an industry standard agreement. That on December 14, 2007 Mr. Head sent an email requesting cancellation of the membership. That on December 30, 2007 Mr. Head was provided with several option to cancel the membership. That some of the options provided are not provisions of the agreement but were offered in good faith in order to accommodate their request to cancel. That to date no response has been received from Mr. Head. That Mr. Head had been sent four monthly statements dating back to October 2007 regarding his annual dues obligation. That as is their company policy after four months as a delinquent account the account was turned over to Monterey Financial for enforsed collection action.

Timber Lodge RV Resort further has informed me that the options as provided in the December 2007 notice are still available or should Mr. Head provide an alternate reasonable option they would be willing to consider it.

Camp Resorts / Timber Lodge RV Park

Through negotiations with the BBB and the above company a settlement was reached between me and Camp Resorts / Timber Lodge RV Park. A word from the wise is to read the contract and ask LOTS of questions before mailing your money and signing on the dotted line. A lot of sales people have the gift of gab and you have a tendency to trust what they say as gospel. BUYER BEWARE.

Buyer Beware

Be sure to read all contracts inside and out, regardless of what the salesperson says over the phone. If they pressure you by saying only a "limited" supply remaining so you better hurry----hang up the phone.

Once you sign on the dotted line you will only hear from them when you are past due on your fees and ready to be turned over for collection. This company will not, I repeat, will not return any phone calls to you once they know you are trying to transfer or get rid of your membership. This same situation has happened to 2 other families that I have been in contact with and they say the same thing. The company will not return your phone calls, only send you past due notices and threats to turn you over to collections. Buyer Beware
