One of our Suppliers called me informing me we used them as a credit reference for certain supplier that we have never applied for credit with. The call was to see if it was okay to provide the info as there were some pretty invasive questions. I asked who sent it and our Supplier said it was from this Canada Legal Referral firm. The email was forwarded to me and it was:

Subject: Credit Reference Request

Attachment: .pdf document (I didn't open due to not knowing who it was and being suspicious).

Body of Email: Nothing! (Suspicious)

Signature: the name, email and phone # provided already in the detials of this report.

Our Supplier did open up the attachment and said it was for a certain Supplier we have never applied for credit with, so I called Cassandra at the number provided and she answered with, "Hello?" (again, suspicious!) and I introduced myself and asked to speak to Cassandra. She said it was her. I said I got her emailed Credit Reference Request from our Supplier, and that our Supplier would not be giving her any information as we have never applied for credit with the Supplier and that I was not even going to open up the attachment due to how suspicious it looks because of her not writing anything in the body of the email and when I googled her firm, my Norton AntiVirus showed a question mark beside their link. She said ok and she'll talk to her manager and I said ok bye.
