In September 2022 we paid $200 for a provincial inspection to enter our car back to British Columbia. We were surprised to get "Failed" by the Kelowna Canadian Tire operation and were presented with almost $1500 in repairs.  Including front brake rotors, Tie Rod end replacements, front hood struts and a complicated litanies of maybes requiring further investigation and perhaps more expensive repairs to rack and pinion steering and wheel alignment.     The first clue was the brakes. We had them completely replaced just before we arrived from Nevada. So, I grew suspicious and took the car to BCAA and paid to have it reinspected. The car was passed as there was no reason to have failed it to begin with. There was some wear on the brake pads (we just drove the car 1500 miles from Nevada) but not sufficient to have failed and also nothing wrong with the Tie Rods and the struts were not a reason to fail the inspection.     It is highly suspicious. We requested a refund of the fees and they told us to go pound sand. We have taken it up with the Ministry of Transportation but have resolved to also let as many people know to steer clear and choose a more honest provider.
