Complaint Review: CanalApts.com - Accommodations Ltd.

Last October several friends and I rented two Canal Apartment properties called the Bosch and Vermeer Apartments, located at the intersection of Herengracht and Leliegracht in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Though the apartments were not really as described, all went fairly well until it came time to get back our two $500 deposits.

After lots of threatening and wrangling, our friends who had stayed at the Vermeer Apartment got theirs back. We never did. We have called the U. S. number (listed in this report; apparently it rings somewhere in Virginia) and emailed countless times but we have never gotten a call or email back. Still no deposit.

From what I've read on the web, fnumerous Canal Apartment customers have gotten this treatment dating back to 2005. Legal and possibly criminal action are possible. It seems the U. S. agent - can't remember his name - has been keeping deposit money and pocketing it, presumably. Since it has been going on for so long with no action from the Dutch owners, I can only presume they are operating their own little international bunko/fraud scheme.

I wish we had done more research and could have avoided having this happen.
