I completed my MS in Educational Leadership from Capella University in 2008.  I completed all of my coursework and residencies in the Doctoral program (Special Education Leadership) with a 3.4 gpa summer 2016.  I took my comps for the first time and was accused of plagiarism. I was expelled from teh school with a debt of $118,000.

Capella used a computer program called Turn It In to determine if your body of work came from another source of work. Prior to my first submission, I used the Turn It In program for the very first time in my life.  My paper had a 79% report, which indicated 79% of my paper came from another body of work. The professor instructed me to re-write my paper and submit it a second time.  I did not receive and feedback from the grading professors in reference to the content of my comps, so I was unable to re-write my comps with professional feedback.  Students only had two chances to submit your comps for a passing grade.  I followed her instruction and the Turn It In program indicated 20% of my paper came from another body of work.  The professor initial told me there was no problem, but later informed me I was under investiagation.

I was contacted my the FRP August 2016.  Below is the initial email:

Oh, "ROBERT" (Obvioulsy a PAID CAPELLA EMPLOYEE RESPONDER ON HERE): Don't be such an A-hole! Quite harsh & insensitive of you, don't you think, especially since you do not have all of this person's FACTS, nor do you have a f-ing clue of this "schools' unfair business practices and its stall tactics to suck every $ they can out of a student? Grow up and be a little more intuned before you cast your naive, ignorant comments upon someone who could possibly have a legitimate concern/complaint about this corrupt, scam "school".

Wrong, they expelled you because you failed to provide the proper evidence they requested.

This is very interesting how your complaint isn't about this computer program saying you had 79% of your paper coming from a different source.

You somehow think that you should receive "feedback" on this paper for your re-write? Why would a professor give any "feedback" on a paper that for all practical purposes doesn't appear to be your own thoughts? I guess they could say things like "Well this piece you copied works well, but this one you should really not use". But how is that going to help you?

Then we get to the next part, you were being investigated. As part of this they want you to send them your last 5 assignments before you started your assessment. But conveniently enough you DELETED them.  This isn't the 1980's where 1 Megabyte of storage costs you $1000. There is absolutely no legitimate reason to delete them and 100's of reasons to keep them.

I asked Capella to pull my assignments themself since they were accussing me of cheating.
- Why should THEY track down your papers and hope that the professor stored them if you didn't care enough to keep your own work? You are an adult..right?

They made their decision to expel me without my past assignments.
- Yes, because YOU failed to provide them with the assignments so all they had was the one you submitted that was suspected of cheating.

I informed them I had Never been accussed of Academic Dishonesty in my life.
- Well until now, and there is always a first time.

Perhaps you can see if they will reevaluate your case if you can provide the past papers.  If so, I would look for a data recovery company and see if they can "find" those past papers.  It may cost you several hundred to a few thousand dollars but if that get them to overturn their decision it may be worth it.

Why do you think it is okay to plagiarize?

Your complaint is meritless. Why do you think you should be able to graduate with an advanced degree if you can't complete your own work product? I find it very convenient for you that suddenly you don't have any of the work for the last 5 course assignments.  That lack of planning, alone, is completely irresponsible.  It's not like your work would have been difficult to keep on a thumbdrive. Instead you deleted any evidence that could have exonerated you.

By the way, the fact that this is the first time that you have been accused of dishonesty doesn't mean you have been honest. It just means you haven't been caught before.

I am just a consumer that is appalled at the lack of education in this country. And now, the apparent expectation that students can cheat their way through college without consequences is becoming a trend.  Take a look at your own actions.
