Out of the blue, I received a letter from CAMCO (Capital Aquisition and Management Company) stating I owe almost $1100 for an account with Marine Midland, sold to S&P Capital Investments that this company just bought. They have no reference to who S&P is, will offer me no phone numbers, and I know Marine Midland has been out of business or aquisitioned for years.

This debt supposedly goes back to 1986, with payments made for six months, then stopped. I have no idea what this is, and I believe there is an error somewhere. I wanted debt validation with a promisory note or evidence of anything I signed. All I kept getting from John Patterson, who was John Miller's supervisor, was "are you willing to set up something today?", even going back to the original debt owed and the interested that has acrued eliminated. I have 30 days from the date of the letter & he wants to make payment arrangements today without allowing me to have any debt validation.

I need to go research that myself, since the account is now bought by CAMCO. I'm wanting to get my laywer involved for advice, plus also issue a cease and desist letter, which they will take, but interest will "still acrue", etc. I'm not paying on anything 20 years old unless they can provide proof of signature of something. Electronic records have known to be wrong.
