I received a letter in the mail saying I owed $207.48 for a Montgomery ward account that CAMCO had purchased from Fourscore Resource Capital, LL and that if I didnt contact them in 30 days they would assume I owed the debt.

I managed to call Fourscore Resource Capital to let them know how the information they provided was being used and forwarded them to this Web site. Maybe they will work to get CAMCO to cease and desist to protect their good name, or at least stop selling names to them.

Of course, the second after I read it I knew it must be a fraud since I have no revolving credit card debt (we pay off our cards monthly). Because I had some debt problems over 10 years ago, I knew that this didn't sit right.

I did a handy-dandy Internet search and found out that many people were being defrauded, see http://www.ripoffreport.com (keyword: CAMCO). From what I read, I expect a second threatening letter shortly that will offer me some sort of settlement.

I also found out from them that the debt supposedly defaulted in April of 1991, which puts it well in the past as far as the statute of limitations -- even if I did owe such a debt, which I don't!

I will not call this company because I don't want them to have my telephone number through caller ID. This company needs to be stopped as soon as possible, people are actually paying the money because they want to protect their credit and this company is preying on that fear.

If you have received such a letter from CAMCO my suggestion would be to complain to the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and anyone else who will listen. The louder the din, the quicker this will end!

I like your enthusiasm but that was a really funny post. Fourscore has a horrible reputation and I 100% guarentee they know exactly what they are doing. They sell these debts on purpose knowing they are past the SOL. They have no good name to protect- they are just as scummy as camco.

p.s. do not forget that illinois attorney general complaint.
